Where can we get info for 2006+ trucks?

I know this is ticky-tacky, but VIN = Vehicle ID Number... saying VIN Number is being repetitively redundant.

    First half of table

    values for VIN Decoding:
    A: 1
    B: 2
    C: 3
    D: 4
    E: 5
    F: 6
    G: 7
    H: 8
    N/A
    J: 1
    K: 2
    L: 3

    P: 7
    N/A
    R: 9

    T: 3
    U: 4
    V: 5
    W: 6
    X: 7
    Y: 8
    Z: 9
Numerical digits use their own values.

    Second half of table:

    Position 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8. (chk digit) 10 11 12 13 14 15 16 17
    Weight. 8 7 6 5 4 3 2 10 (chk digit) 9. 8.. 7.. 6.. 5.. 4..3.. 2

    Example:

    So, 5TET would be:

    (position 1)5*8=40 (position 2)T*7=21
    (position 3)E*6=30 (position 4)T*5=15
all the way until position 17

ADD all the products, 40+21+30+15 and so on

divide the sum by 11, see what you get

    Incorrect for me
    Vin#3= E
    Vin#6= 4 Yet I have a 4dr not Reg Cab.
    Vin#7= 2 I have a base not delux unless I missunderstand.
Vin#10= 7 for me but letters are the option.

I assume these are different since I have an 07 and the list is for 96-05.

Ummmm, I don't think any 1st gen Tacos were ever assembled in Japan. They were all done at the NUMMI plant in Fremont, CA.

Huh, that's weird. I was confused because my first position is a 5 (USA) but the 11th is a 7 (Japan).

On a 2001 Toyota VIN, the 11th position is a plant code, not a country code.

Digits 0 through 9 mean 'TMC' (Toyota Motor Corporation).

If your Toyota was assembled in Japan, it would have to have a 'J' in the 1st position.

The specific VIN codes used in the sequential positions have *not* been totally consistent for all years 1995.5 - 2004, so this or that character in the nth position might mean something different depending on model year.

I was checking out a vin decoder (here) for my truck, and i was curious about something.

The Series Digit, mine is 4, meaning I could have:
    GRN245
    TRN240
    TRN245

    What are those numbers/letter for?

    I have a 1996 reg. cab 2wd 4 cyl tacoma my #5 VIN Position is "L" I think it's a 2.4L but not real sure. This decoder info shows VIN Position #5 "L" as a 6 cyl 2.4L thats a type-O right??? I just need to be sure it's a 2.4L and not a 2.7L

    Thanks
