vin question

If my vin ends in 6262, but was built in August 2024, how is that possible? Wouldn’t we have over 100,000 by now or is there some other meaning to the final digits?

 

Every letter and number before the last 5 or 6 mean something like what country, plant, year, transmission type, cab type etc.....there are a ton of combination that can be had before you get to the actual production number.

So it is possible to have your VIN since it is a trailhunter and not a lot of those have been built.

The last six digits are the vehicle specific serial number. Whether they are sequential for the year across all models, specific to type (SUV, sedan, truck, etc) or specific to model (Tacoma, Camry, etc) depends on the manufacturer. For instance, my '21 TRX was 321989 since Ram uses sequential numbers assigned across all trucks built and doesn't differentiate between models at all in the serial number range. My '22 Rivian was sequentially numbered by year and model so I know the truck was the 11,709th to be assigned a VIN.
