Went to grab the VIN off my truck and could not get to the windshield from the side of the garage I was on. No problem, I'll just grab it off the passenger door. Nope. When did Toyota stop putting the VIN on all the panels?

The vin is owned by the federal government it’s not part of the parts list for the vehicle...as far as I know it’s on the dash and printed on the drivers door jamb sticker...Probably elsewhere too but I haven’t looked

Um, no. The VIN is the vehicle unique top level assembly number. The VIN is transferable from owner to owner. The "governments" only involvement is registration for local and state tax purposes. They don't own the VIN. It's just a string of numbers and letters.

The VIN is set up as an ISO standard and the format has been used since 1981 GLOBALLY. How you think the "government" owns it when a Chery produced in China and sold in Viet Nam and uses the exact same format is beyond me.

It's still on every major body part, just harder to locate. Law enforcement have a list of locations to make it easier to find out if parts are stolen.

I rebuild wrecks and have to have all used parts checked to make sure I didn't put a truck together with ripped off parts. It's often less hassle to just buy new parts when I put these trucks together.

US government mandated VIN back in the 50s, wasn’t until the 80s that the VIN took on an ISO standard world wide. That’s probably why someone thought the gov owned it.

I see your point but when you register property with the state you no longer own it that’s a fact. A certificate of title grants you the equity rights to the vehicle and all the liability to go with it but the state retains ownership as the trustee for the federal government. It is illegal to remove a vin number from a motor vehicle because it’s federal property. No?

Dude. Take off the tin foil hat please. The VIN is just like your home and property address.
For all intents and purposes, you own (or your bank if financed) your vehicle. Now, just like your house or land, if you neglect to pay your taxes, then the "government" can seize it and, this is big, assume ownership. So, they don't own it unless you screw up and don't pay taxes. Then they can own it.

You can't remove your VIN because it's against a law, NOT because it's federal property. Again, just like you can't change your home addresss.

Take some time to educate yourself on the federal trust agreement of 1919...it will provide clarity about the concept of ownership as it relates to motor vehicles because yours is just an illusion...tin foil hat an all!

LMAO... please give link to this federal trust agreement. The only thing I can think of that relates to motor vehicle that was huge change in 1919 was the National Motor Vehicle Theft Act 1919.

This is not Hawaii where property is owned by State... as long as you pay taxes for the goods you bring into it, it is yours. Similar to traveling overseas, if I bring in a shit ton of items that cost a large sum of money, i am suppose to declare it on the customs forms and pay taxes on it.

Reading up on the activities of the 65th and 66th sessions of Congress, they seemed mostly concerned with authorizing bridges.

Ya, I’m pretty sure they were more worried about rebuilding after World War instead of trying to take rights similar to the communist countries they are trying to destroy...

During ancient times they used harps or lyres along with poems or odes for bewitchment. Mind control or mental manipulation is sorcery. The modern harp symbol originated in Ireland. There is a mind control operation in Ireland called I-LOFAR with the Guinness and Parsons families involved. HAARP is also used for weather manipulation to a limited degree.
