thats what is beneficial from plastidip. You can just layer it in, or if you have to, you can just get spray cans of the stuff, and do touch ups

Hey I did this to my truck I plasti dip the whole truck camo green it's nice but it's hard to keep clean and if something pinstripe it or something it hard to repair and looks ugly. I camo my truck with vinyl and loved it. Just make sure you heat it up real good and press firmly. It will last you more time and protect the paint more and if one piece comes off. You can always add an other piece on!

If it's vinyl wrap, contact **********, they wrap all kinds of crazy things. You might also want to check Gatorprints. They have branches and installers located in just about every large city

My truck is going through the same punishment - and it's black. =( A few months ago I took it to a shop to get it buffed out. They did a great job considering I had a couple pretty deep stripes. But unfortunately they told me I can't keep buffing them out like that. He said that maybe they could do it one extra time before the clearcoat starts to fail.

Then, literally 2 weeks later, I go on another trip and reintroduce a bunch of new pinstripes lol.

I'm 100% for using my truck. I'm not going to let pinstripes stop me. But at the same time it would be nice if the paint didn't look like complete shit in the sunlight.

I'm considering contacting **********. All I want is black wrap for the sides of the truck to stop the stripes. I don't need the whole truck wrapped or some crazy camo scheme.

Might I offer something different. Not sure if you ever plan on selling your truck but you could look at Line-x. I got mine line-xed about 2 years ago with a color match (1E7). Not the whole truck but my fiberglass bedsides, quarter panels, tailgate, and part of my front fenders. So far the Linex has held up great and has not faded since I got the "Linex Ultra" which has some type of UV protectant in it. The silver is the correct color match but is a little darker on cloudy days due to the texture.

They can do that pattern that you depicted in the pic of your original post. I have tried plasti-dip and to me it isn't worth the effort and doesn't hold up to pin-stripes.

    Here are pics for reference.

I don't see anything other than bed liner holding up.

I spend a lot of time in the woods and I get a lot of scratches from brush. Sometimes the brush branches will be pretty thick and leave a real nice scratch. I just don't see that or plasti-dip holding up at all. You can pick off plasti-dip with your fingernails!!

Are you saying you have vinyl, or just giving your best guess? Here's an example of what I'm doing:

    https://youtu.be/hMIu_VjtaC0?t=15m48s

I hit a lot of branches on this trip, but this is one that probably gave me one of the deeper stripes. Do you think a vinyl wrap would be able to take that unscathed?? I would guess no.

I think that two-tone actually looks cool - especially on the lower doors. My problem is I'd need to do the whole doors.

You mind saying how much that cost?

Cost was about $1100. That includes Surface prep and the color match 1E7 paint, but I took all my bumpers and rock rails off. Every linex dealer is different and you can usually negotiate price. Price would be cheaper for just the Black with the Ultra (UV protectant).

You can also do Monsta Liner if you wanna save money. My buddy just did his Dodge Ram-charger. Monstaliner has UV stabilizers in it and no rubber fill like some other common bed liners. I might end up doing the rest of my truck in monstaliner if I can figure out how to correctly Tint the color.

    That's not too expensive.

Oh man I love orange on old trucks. We have a friend of ours that brings his Charger out with us sometimes. That thing is baller.

Doesn't bedliner "soak up" dirt though? I had bedliner on my old sliders and they constantly looked like shit - even after washing them. But they were sliders so I didn't care. How does the LineX look?

My rock rails are that spray on rattle-can bedliner (Rustolem) and that does absorb some dirt. But my line-x does not really absorb (doesn't have deep pours). Dirt just sticks to it like it would for any paint. It is gone with the flash of some water out of the hose (literally just falls off and looks new again).

I live in Utah so we have that common Red clay.

My truck it wrapped and live in the midwest so most of our trails are wooded so Ive take my fair share of branches with both paint and vinyl. Its a worthwhile investment and wish I would have done it from the beginning like I had planned but was too busy with work.

Vinyl scratches like paint, little easier but thats the point anyways to keep the paint looking decent and let the vinyl take the damage. I have yet to see the vinyl rip from a branch but I have plenty of marks. Great thing with vinyl is I can fuck up a panel really bad and just replace it when I get home and look like new again

It took me and my wife a long weekend to fully wrap the truck, and cost about 660 in material with about 15ft left over from the 55ft roll

    Awesome info. Thanks.

I know nothing about applying vinyl, but I suppose I can look into it. Sounds like LineX would be the more permanent solution - but also spendy. I'd love a matte black truck though.

I'll have to do something sooner than later. A couple more years of this and I won't have much paint left.

    Your trucks look awesome.

How could you get me a custom vinyl wrap for? I'm sure we could barter for something.

I just have a few friends who can get vinyl at cost through their work, not really something I can provide as a service.

Reason why I haven't bothered to correct the paint at all, even before vinyl only clay/mineral wipe down. You can only correct so many times before the paint goes away so Ill save the one and only time I correct the paint for when I sell the truck if I ever do
