I tried and failed. You will need a heat gun.

Are the letters cut out or is it white on black vinyl?

    Hey again Mopar.

I think in this pic the letters are vinyl on-top of black vinyl. The fact that the white comes "out" of the inset area and onto the surface is what makes me think that.

I just bought a 5'×75' roll of vinyl from Metrorestyling. It is difficult to do this and have it turn out well. I highly recommend the heat gun and knifless tapes.

Maybe I'm being special, but how do you use the knifeless tape to cut out the letters? I could see it if you wanted to leave vinyl in the letters but not outside, but would you not need a line of tape running outside your vinyl for each letter if your goal was vinyl outside, body paint inside? In other words, how do you use knifeless tape to cut out the interior space of vinyl, rather than an outline around it (most uses I've seen are for bumper/hood body lines)?

Maybe use the tape to lay your line instead of cutting up the paint with a razor. The lettering shown here would have to be die-cut prior to laying it, or white vinyl letters. If this dude did the letters with knifeless tape, he is a f@cking wizard.
