Viper 350HV car alarm question

2002 TRD

Bought an '02 Tacoma that has the viper 350HV alarm system installed in it. Came with a remote (Viper 473V) that is not communicating with the system. Went through the painful process working my way through the Viper programming manual and the remote still will not communicate with system. The previous owner says he lost the original remote, i have since then went through the steps of erasing all programmed remotes and starting from scratch but still nothing! Batteries are fresh in remote, patience is wearing thin! Would like to avoid bringing it into a Viper dealer. Any help would be much appreciated
