So, I just pulled the viper 690 xv out of my mustang to put in my Tacoma,
I didn't have the alarm installed in the mustang, but who ever out it in added some relays and weird wiring to the alarm system. All I really want to use the alarm for is to unlock the doors, so, Can I hook it up without the alarm part and just put the door lock/unlock mechanism in?
    Thanks.

there are also 3 relay's that seem to be added aftermarket, can I just delete those?

I have a different alarm system hooked up on my other car and I am just using it for lock/unlock...I'm sure it can be used as just that..if it gets too confusing, you can buy really cheap keyless entry units on ebay and amazon that have basic hookups and directions....sorry if this isn't much help

ok I have a bunch of info, any electronic guru's I need your help.

from the main harness that comes from the box, these are the wires and where I think they go and what they are called.

Red (+) "12 v power input" battery or fuse box

    Brown (+) "siren" self explanatory

Yellow (+) "ignition input zone 5" I know that it goes to a relay, then to the ignition somewhere?

    black (-) "ground" self explanatory

blue (-) "instant trigger zone 1" don't know where it goes

purple (-) "door trigger zone 3" don't know where it goes

white (-/+) "parking light output" don't know where it goes. maybe to the "brain" relay

orange (-) "500 ma armed output"

so, I have 1 relay that just has power running to it, and then from it there is one open spot, which connects to the power for the door lock port, I think.

I have a negative relay that gives ground to the door lock port, then there are 2 open spots, my guess is the blue (-) instant trigger zone 3 wire goes to one, and the purple (-) door trigger zone 3 wire goes to the other spot.

Then I have what seems to be a brain relay, there is a green wire coming from it that went to the ignition area on the mustang, and a black one that I'm assuming is ground. then there is a spot for the yellow (+) ignition input zone 5 wire, and a spot for the orange (-) 500 ma armed output wire. then I have an open spot, which I'm assuming is for the white (+/-) wire (does the (+/-) mean it can go to either a poss or neg?)

I think that's all I have, does that all sound right?

    Thanks in advance!
    Ross

I know someone will be able to help on this one, also, how do I know which wires to tap into for the ignition and door lock wires? is there a wiring diagram somewhere I can follow?

Look around online for websites selling keyless entries for your specific truck, and see if they have install PDF's available. That will probably give you an idea of what needs to go where.

Do you have a tester? test the wires.

Sorry I would tell you yes or no the diagram is right, but I really don't know. Trial and error buddy..

    Good luck
