I am looking at installing a Viper alarm system with remote start on my '08 access cab. Besides the alarm system in the kit I think the glass break detector is a must accessory to get with my system. Which alarm do you think i should get? I like the fact that the 5901 has a display and 1 mile range. Any experiences or good websites with the cheapest prices to get one of these units? I plan on having a shop do this so it gets done right and i don't have to get numb fingers :D

    Viper 5701: MSRP $479.99

    Viper 5901: MSRP $599.99

    THANKS!!!

keep in mind you can get the same unit from several 'venders' as it's actually made but Directed Electronics (Python, Clifford, Hornet... ect). You might find the cliffard variation of it cheaper... I was looking into the 5901 myself about a year back.... never went through with it though. All I really wanted from it was remote start anyway lol...

Thanks for that info! I found a python alarm that's identical to the 5901 for only $230!!!! that's a lot less money for the same product

    Thanks for the link...
I too was looking at the 5901 Viper, but its damn expensive..

Also, if you buy online, its very difficult to get a shop to install a product that they didn't sell and make a cut off of... In addition, they dont want to warranty any install if they didnt sell the product..

At least, thats what I have found out from calling around...
Let me know what your plans are and how you make out.

You can get the 5901 off ebay for $230 shipped. A friend of mine got one a few months ago.
