Viper Cut 2nd gen?

I cut mine off. Doesn't do much as it has huge vents in the liner lol

 

Just did mine today. I trimmed the front screw mount off the wheel well liner, poked a hole, and zip tied them up to the fog light buckets.

 

Here's what I did

 

I know I know. Our trucks are not made for mpg…..but did you guys notice a drop in mpg after the cuts?

from the factory on my 2015, there were little plastics, shape of a credit card, in front of the front wheels, screwed into the fender liner. I found out they were for mpg.

so if such a small thing can affect mpg, wonder if a big cut like that will also affect anything

 

On my way out to Moab, when I saw 8 mpg I quit caring...

 

okay time to grab some plastic and duct tape and see if i can get some MPG back with my ARB bumper, for science. I get about 260 miles to the tank in the Tacoma when the dummy fuel light pops on. only ever let it get to 300 before filling.

what are you stock bumper friends getting?

 

260 is about MAX for mine. That is deep into the red zone. Might be more tires and foot than anything else though... Used to get 20-21 on the stock tires and no modifications. Running about 6400lbs with full load out too... Gas milage is not where I am headed with this build. Although, an LS swap might actually help the situation...

Like this cut a lot. Do you have any pics of inner liner. Trying to figure out what to do with it.

 

i just cut mine to match the front this is how i did mine. the inner fender i just cut straight accross if i remember ill take a pic later for you

Not the best picture, but I minimally trimmed mine and then used a heat gun to bend it up and zip tied it.

 

Does this “viper cut” only work without the OEM flares?

 

I cut into my OEM flares.

 

EDIT: I messed up my reply. but I think the 2.5gen can pull off the viper cut better than the plain 2nd gen. Since you can follow the straight line under the fog lights.

 

Yes that’s what I believe as well. I’m on straight 2nd gen and think that it won’t look as nice
