DEI has had a lot trans shipping problems over the years. Lots of knock off stuff in the market. Looks and acts just like the real thing, right down to the packaging. I think they’ve been trying to move to this route where it’s like a SWAP system. (Software as a product) so that unauthorized copies are harder to produce.

Well l got an answer. The professional install shop could not get the key to be recognized by the Viper key bypass system built into the DS4+. In other words, they got exactly as far as I got, but they even had DEI tech support on the phone for an hour.

I am having them install a Compustar system .I hope I can get money back on the Viper parts.

If this type of stuff is happening very often, it sounds like DEI may have solved one problem, but created another.

I just got a Viper DS4+ installed a couple weeks ago and love it. No issues. I purchased it locally and had it installed by same dealer.

I disconnected the battery negative terminal to do some welding on the cab mount chop. Re connected battery and then remote start had an error. It would crank but immobilize. Took it to the installer and they just said it needed to be re tach’d to the vehicle. Easy fix, turn key press and hold button on Viper antenna and it was good to go.

This is why I try to do all installs myself. I feel as though many shops are questionable but act as though they know all. I just don't like dealing with install shops.

At this point I don't know what the problem was, but I just paid a lot in labor.
