Hmmm......I think Toyota should consider offering this video game as a simulator for new Tacoma owners. In my experience, it models my trucks capabilities perfectly. I’ve driven the trail at 1:26.

Need to get me some logging straps.

    Yep. On Steam:
    https://store.steampowered.com/app/263280/Spintires_The_Original_Game/

I had the game for a few years. It taught me a lot about off road driving, esp with the original vehicles. I just DL'ed the Taco a couple months ago. It is fun, but all the add-ons seem to detract from the original.

This game is fun to mess around with, tons of mods and vehicles. Should get a group together on PC sometime.

So is the Taco solid axle a “mod”, or just an inaccuracy?

What amuzes me the most, being well aware of some of the limitations of the real Tacoma, is watching the YouTube guy’s truck drive over those rocks without tearing off the rear bumper caps.

I wish my rear bumper had been that strong!

Looks like it's a mod. From one description: "This is a fully SAS Tacoma with 4 link rear."

Cool. That’s quite a bit of detail you can go into. I didn’t know such games existed. I’ve been under a rock apparently

The Taco aspect is not a true sim. This is more like it:

This game is a unicorn. I believe one crazy mofo in the Ukraine developed it. Then, there was a big kerfuffle with the UK company that bought him out. But, the soft world physics are crazy.

    Yeah that’s cool.

He did mention in the Taco vid that he had “damage off”, but for sure.....that virtual Taco is a tiny bit more capable than the real article. Must be the tires.

The damage model for it is not that great. For the game in general, it is not so much about visible damage, but the functional effect of it.

For visual damage, this is crazy:

Both of these, even though they are pretty old, require a good dedicated graphics card. They both struggle on our weaksauce computers but still worth it.

Yes. It’s a dealer add on, but you have to know to ask.
