    Hey all,

I will be visiting San Diego for the next two weeks and while I will have a rental car (couldn't drive my truck out there :/ ) I was going to see if there are any meets going where I can come and meet some new folks and check out some awesome rigs.

I plan on making a trip out to Joshua Tree, any trail recommendations for hiking?

    Thanks!

    Leah

Welcome to America's finest! If you're looking for a mild hike in SD, check out Torrey Pines.

Best Burger is Hoodad's in Ocean Beach. You'll also find the best fish tacos at Soutbeach Bar and grill in The same town.

Best Street tacos are Tacos El Gordo. There's a few locations around the county.

Best views are Mt Solidad and the Cabrillo National Monument.

If your looking for a killer view and place to grab a drink downtown, check out the bar at the top of the Hyatt.

    Have fun!

Hey I really appreciate it! Hopefully I'll make it to one of the meet ups and get some more mod ideas!

Know that it gets cold out in the desert this time of year. Camping out in the Mojave Desert in a two-man tent didn't feel great. As far as off-road meets are concerned check out this sub-forum from time to time. Lot's of people schedule day-runs and camping trips. I was going try to get a group together in one of the next weekends anyway. There are some minivan friendly roads and "trails" around San Diego, at least when they're not muddy. This also seems like a good time for some shameless self-promotion; you could always look at my blog to get an idea of the trails Southern California.

Maybe I can get you in the prerunner for some high speed desert stuff if there is enough time (which is never the case).

What does high speed desert stuff entail?

I can't quite put it in to a single set of words; lets just say, one of those pucker up moments when you think it's going to be a heavy hit on the truck but turns out to be a speed bump in a civic type of ride. You know, feet planted to the floor type thing, but absolutely nothing to be concerned about.
