Anybody using VLEDS bulbs for their headlights, particularly the H4s in the 7X6 housings? I haven't found much info on them online and can't find any videos or output shots. They claimed to me that their LEDs are brighter and have better performance than a HID retrofit. I'm using the Morimoto 2 Stroke 2.0s and I'm looking to update them, because I've been running them for a few years. I'm just wondering how the output is.

And LED bulbs haven't changed enough in that time to make it any less relevant. The true answer is that VLEDs would be just as bad or worse as any other LED. Sure, they may be brighter, but that's just going to blind oncoming traffic even more. So long as you have stock housings, no LED will be better than halogen from a safety standpoint.

I put some Philips H4 LEDs in my 1962 Triumph TR3 last month. I found some warm-white emitters that look a little more period, and the low current draw of the LEDs takes a significant load off the car’s wheezy old 40A generator.

For a car that’s not often driven, it was a compromise I’m willing to try out.

Before I put them in the TR, I tried the H4 LEDs in my 2003 Tacoma with OEM lenses and reflectors.

They gave absolutely miserable light quality! It was almost like I was driving with macular degeneration and had no central vision. A dark hole right in front of the truck.

This from brand new H4 LEDs branded by one of the world’s premier lighting companies.

I didn’t expect the LED H4s to equal incandescent lamps. But, jeez, they were much, much worse.

I’ll try them in the TR, but they might be so bad there too that I can’t safely drive that vehicle with them.
