Wow, thanks for the very comprehensive review, sucks that it didn't workout.

I had OEM LED Headlights in a 2014 Rogue I was driving for awhile, they were the best headlights I have ever had by far. They did have a projector style housing though.

Never got flashed by oncoming drivers.

I was going to put them in my 2016 Tacoma when I get it, now I'm not so sure.

What did VLEDS have to say about it?

No. The rubber boot cannot seat as far down on the VLED bulb to allow for the clearance of the bulb, the clip that holds on the bulb, and then the boot.

Yeah I think the biggest thing to get out of this is while VLED makes a great product, its not a product for our Tacoma's. Between the poor fitment, and the excessive lighting, I can't recommend these. I've seen these bulbs used in projector applications and the output and cut off is amazing. Who knows, maybe they would work great in the 2016 projector style housings. But the 16' Tacoma uses halogen projectors right? I would be suspect based on that fact.

I haven't had time to contact VLED but will be doing so later this week. My intention is to get my money back due to the poor fitment.

Again, thanks for the excellent review.

If you don't mind, would you update us with how you make out with VLEDS. I think they should waive the re stocking fee of 15% and give you 100% of your money back, the lights don't work and that's not your fault.

I did call them myself earlier in the month and they said the LMZ's would be fine in the new Halogen Projector housings but now I am not so sure - more research needed.

I think I am going to have to clarify the re stocking fee for lights that don't work among other things...

Like I said in a previous post the OEM LED Headlights were awesome in my Rouge.

On my older gen VLEDs headlight bulbs you could separate the stick light LED portion from the cooling portion so you could still use the rubber boot to create a tight seal. You can't do this on the new style?

Wow, interesting design choice by VLEDS on that one. I specifically bought from VLEDS because they were the only ones that would work with the rubber boot (at the time).

Yes. Their install guide really is quite rudimentary and does not tell the whole story. The H4/9003 bulb is shielded on one side for the brights/lows. The VLED LMZ bulb is not shielded so what ends up happening is you get a significant amount of light scatter and artifacts where you normally wouldn't have direct light.

I have attached a picture of what I'm talking about when I say shielding on a stock bulb. The VLED LMZ does not have that which leads to the issues I described above, instead the LMZ has light blasting all directions. There is no way of getting around it until they develop a LED bulb that has the LED in the exact same spot as the halogen (depth and rotational), and has the shield to direct light like the stock bulb.

LED bulbs are just not a good performer. You'll want to retrofit an LED projector or HID projector for proper improvement without glare.

Final update on this guys. VLEDS gave me a full refund my return, no questions asked. Mailed them in on the 20th and got my refund yesterday.

Andrew, which projector would you suggest with this light in a 2013?

I have no experience with these in the 2016 headlights with their halogen projector. The only experience I have with the VLED LED's is in my 2011 halogen reflector headlights. For the 2011 I do not recommend them. They may work better on the 2016 because of the different style headlight.
