U work on invent kit for 2nd gen also yes?

is there a limit on how many tow taps you can have
Already have one powering a hitchpod
I don’t see why two in a row isn’t possible
Zip tied out of the way
    Low power draw from LED

like two tow hitch taps in a row connected to each other?

Yes was just looking at that
Maybe getting the VLED 3rd gen kit
Then to fit on my 2nd gen, get FBC brake tap with reverse and parking

And run it tap my right tail since it’s not tapped.

plan would be somehow mount the bar under my tailgate like on the metal panel
Because bumper is HC and plate is relocated to tailgate

actually had a Ram TRX LED bar (OEM) I planned to put on until finding out about this
The TRX bar doesn’t brake or reverse…

First post has the harness for 7 pin. Assuming 2nd gen Tacoma w tow kit.

The desire is for brake I take it? So maybe word it as “I’d really like the brake functionality for my 2nd Gen Tacoma?”

    I can try either or
Reason I put it that way is I don’t want to make it sound like there needs to be one made for right side brake tap, that I may need to do and rewire

because while my tow connector is already tapped into with a Diode Dynamics pod, other folks may not be
I’ve never seen anyone run the plate light and aux pod(s) at the same time; usually just plate light alone so their trucks are untapped besides maybe a camper shell tapped into left brake if equipped

Brake is the same on L and R sides. But tow connector needs to use a de-multiplexor to get brake from L and R trailer stop/turn signals.

I will admit being confused if you already have aux reverse lights and you’re trying to add more via a plate frame when you have a HC bumper that doesn’t have the plate in a normal spot? Hard to see that adds value.

    possibly
Was initially going to put a TRX lamp bar
But upon seeing this new VLED bar it seems better, to offer more, and match the rest of the lights for a similar cost.
It could make for more visible/safety, more illumination

IMO living in CA right now I almost get crashed into on a daily basis, and have been rear ended multiple times despite having working brake lights

Yep, Cali driving. Gotta leave space but then people cut you off even more. You got VLED triton extreme red bulbs already?

no. I’ll have to take a look at VLED and if they have hot resistors that waste power. I may be wrong and disclaimer: you know more than me
I like Diode Dynamics also, for what the offer, I hear they’re top notch and anything I have from them is good
They are probably both up there. I have VLED footwell lighting kit and it’s awesome.

so I’ll admit, I did think about better bulbs
    was looking at DD
    May have to try something.
Site says their bulbs and module may not work on TRD (mine is) but that return policy is 30 days so I can be the Guinea pig to try and test.

but that was to upgrade turn signals, primarily rear. Why?
    1. Can’t really change my brake bulb. Housing is OEM LED
    2. Still experience CA drivers, including when trying to merge while signaling
    3. The benefits of LED sound appealing. Less heat, last forever, brighter, less power use, faster turn on

    regarding lights in general,
EMS has a lot. Especially fire trucks. Can’t imagine anyone’s gonna hit them.
    The more the better.
Plus Ram TRX with the triple LED looks sick.
would rather the truck last 1m miles and 100yrs than get hit
Last 2 hits in other vehicles they said “I didn’t see you” (stopped at a red light with the brake on)

Yeah, 2.5 gen taillights are fun with the LED's but they are definitely not bright, not at all. The 2.0 gen taillights, while pink-ish, have discrete brake bulb adapters and might be worth considering.

On my '05 I swapped to the 2.5 gen taillights and I like how they look better than the stock ones I took off. But if I wanted good brake lights, that's where I'd start. Mine aren't quite nice enough to offer for your truck but new OEM shouldn't be absurd and definitely less than a deductible.

There is a reason Toyota went back to halogen bulbs in 2016, those OEM ones didn't quite cut the mustard unfortunately. Probably just a matter of emitter tech at the time and price points.

I think these are the part numbers, but double-check. And I think there are two part numbers for each, one with bulbs, one without, obviously cheaper without bulbs.

you’re right the LED ones don’t look that bright. Would be easy to sell and find a set of halogen. Then putting VLED or DD red would be brighter.

researching this again and want to ask to confirm in case anyone knows

if this can fit 2nd gen
I’ve seen one on a 2nd gen but don’t know how it was wired

I assume the truck has a valid supply in the tow harness
Because that’s exactly where Diode Dynamics hitch pod plugs in, that also does red/park + illuminate brake + turn white in reverse (using their 5th gen T4R one)

asking because VLED website says connecting to tow hitch is not compatible on 05-15

pics of a 2nd gen with it:

What order would I plug this in with the "disable in reverse + aux", and your total upgrade tail light kit?

DIR is upstream of the taillight harness, the only option which is possible for any taillight w switchback.

LPX is often done off the tow connector but if it’s a harness off the taillight it can be on either side of the DIR.

I'm debating on whether or not to get this; For anyone with this LED Plate Bar, are the RED leds, running or brake, even visible when driving at night with a car behind you, since their directly inline with being flooded with headlights? All I have seen are parking lot marketing videos, nothing real world with a car behind.
    Thanks.

    For those wondering, Per VLEDS customer service;

The parking lights (Combined total of all 3 red LEDs) are 20 Lumens.
The Brake Lights (Combined total of all 3 red LEDs) are 210 Lumens.

If the parking or running leds were 50 or so lumens EACH that would make it visible in traffic & that'd be enough for my needs.
I'm going to get the LPR & figure something else out for the running leds.

I have the brake lights turned off, because they're distracting to other drivers.

    Here are the running lights:
