Per an earlier thread, I mentioned that my amber-only 3157 style CK bulbs had failed within a year in my DTRL application, 12 Prerunner.
The bulbs had actually turned brown in some areas.
Even though they had a good sized heat sink AND VLEDS.com clearly marked them for DTRL usage in their 2014 online catalog, they failed due to heat buildup.
As the bulbs failed in sections, (hard to notice they're going bad) some leds were still working, most had failed. Truck failed inspection in Virginia in March, due to a DTRL light that was too dim (only a few leds still working.) I was too late to get them in under warranty.
I tried to get VLEDS to extend the warranty, but they held to the one year AND NOW NO LONGER RECOMMEND ANYTHING OTHER THAN THEIR EXPENSIVE TRITION SYSTEM, for DTRL applications.

    From VLEDS:
"Sorry for the delayed response. Your warranty expired on those bulbs in October 2015. We apologize if the listing was posted as DRL safe but we do not recommend the amber plug in style bulbs for DRL applications. For constant on applications we only list the V3 Triton bulbs in the DRL category."

Not sure if other standard replacements from other manufacturers will fail in these applications, even in the 2012 and later model which have bigger DTRL assemby to dissipate heat.

This was a waste of $50.00 for me, so be sure you get a product that can last the 50,000 hours they claim.

Pic attached. Barely 16 months usage. Note leds are discoloring/darkening and one led fell off.

Good news....VLEDS met me part way and provided a $30 credit for these toward replacement products; originally spent $50. So Hat Tip to them for supporting their customers. I used the credit toward LED strips for additional rear turn signals, used the trailer wiring for connections.
