Rob, now that you have had this lift, and used it off-road, do you like it, or would you have gone a different direction?

    Good question.

For the price I am happy with it. The stiffness I had when installed has subsided to a stock feel on road but when I'm heading towards a dip, I don't slow down for it.

If I paid the regular $1500 price the I'd say no.

I only ask because I’ve got the opportunity to purchase a TRD kit locally for $750, or I could do the 5100 with 885 springs and a headstrong 3 leaf for $830. Just wondering what the best bang for the buck would be.

I’d have to purchase a leaf pack separately for the TRD, and would probably do the 3 leaf pack.

Just trying to feel you out to see if your good with the kit or not.

Well the TRDs are closer to the Bilstein 6112/5160 combo so thicker bodies and rear reservoirs. Better performance vs the 5100s.

Advantage of the 5100s you can replace them on the fly if they ever go out.

I'm a little uncomfortable with you "trying to feel" me out. haha. :p

I figured you’d like that part haha.

I’m told by the local dealership that the parts are still made and sold for the TRD kit, just not sold as a “kit” anymore.... I dunno how accurate that is coming from the parts guy....

Finally had time to work on figuring how to use a hi-lift Jack. I wanted to know how to use it before the actual need may happen.

Rob, do you still have the overload leaf on your leaf pack? How does it ride? On my 1st, 2nd, and 3rd gen, I have noticed that the rear end feels like it “skips” around uncontrollably when going over something small at higher city to highway speeds, such as rail road tracks around 20-30 mph, or bad road bumps at highway speeds. I observed my 2nd gen felt the most terrifying regarding this.

Do you ever get that sensation with your lift?

    Hi,

Yes I kept the OL on the pack. It rides good. After things kind of broke it feels close to stock on road and when I go over dips I just go full speed without worries.

I think that feeling you're describing is just normal due to having a sold rear axle. I know what you're talking about. I've notice it when going full speed over speed bumps.

Having better shocks will help with this 'skip' as you call it. I've driven over the same speed bumps and railroad tracks as stock and it's more controlled. It still feels somewhat loose but much improved.

Thanks. I’m jealous of your setup, good work man.

I was able to purchase the TRD kit, but I’m in a refusal of sorts to install without wheels and tires... stock setup wheels and tires are unacceptable..

    Thank you.

I think you should install the suspension then you'll rush to get wheels/tires asap. LOL

Did you ever do this install on your 2nd gen? I am considering the same on my 06 regular cab and trying to get an idea of how much lift i might get out of this.
