Voice command not working

I have a tacoma that came with the basic factory stereo and steering wheel set up with just the volume and channel changer button controls. I have since upgraded my entire sound system including my stereo To an avh-bt7500.

I added the ribbon and voice command with call answering and hangup button last. Upon testing everything my call answering and hangup buttons, the voice command button however does nothing with my GS6. My stereo has a button for voice command but I have to go through a few screens to get to it, I figured before buying this set up it would work.

I have the axxess aswc-1 steering wheel control, it works with everything else so I'm not sure if it's just a compatability issue with my phone or something else.
