^^^agreed...pretty much....i haven't seen anyone with proof of actual performance gains but i also haven't see anything that there has not been any performance gains...all the CAI manufacturers claim *up to 20hp gains or whatever, but the key words are *up to...so that's 0-20hp gain... most people notice better throttle responses and many claim power gains but without dynos to prove the gains, it's all disputable.

yup....eventually i'll be getting one to see where i've come from stock hp #'s by toyota, but that will be with CAI and MAF calibrator, long-tube headers and cat-back exhaust

ordered my MAF calibrator today...guess i'll be seeing what all the hype is about and hopefully feel the HP gains that the intake supposed to give me!
I was talking with a guy at URD and he brought up a guy who had a volant intake and actually lost 15hp and with the calibrator, he was able to go from a 15hp loss to a 15hp gain...30hp gain from getting the proper calibration setting!

the problem i guess lies in the tube diameter that volant uses is smaller than the stock diameter which make the MAF sensor to think the air flow is greater than it actually is...small diameter tube + same amount of force/air = greater velocity/flow which makes the sensor think more air is coming in, but really that's not the case...

so that's a fail on volant's design...the AFE and URD systems did a better job designing their tubes and avoid this issue, but i'm already committed so i ponied up for the calibrator to bring my power back around

Thread revival... does anyone know if this intake is CARB legal?
It was on my truck when I bought it and smog has finally come around. Failed the visual inspection due to the guy not seeing any CARB sticker. Ive contacted Volant, but they havent responded yet.
