I upgraded to a Volant awhile back, just because i got a heck of a deal on one with the ram air. I could tell a difference in small power increase through my throttle response. When leaving a light, going up an on ramp to the interstate, etc. truck seemed to pull a little better. Also bumped me up about a 1.5 increase in mpg.

The new kit for '13+ has a better seat for the MAF and doesn't seem to be producing CEL's like the earlier kits.

No CEL issues. I was worried about that though.

Yea I've heard of a half a mile per gallon improvement but not much more. Overall good performance gains is the hope

Rock Lobster and Shitgoose are right. I saw negligible MPG gains and the HP, though noticeable, is not what was expected. I did the whole exhaust system too, so it does move faster than stock.

Volant CAI, TRD Exhaust, Throttle Body Expansion with vortex, too many others to mention.
I know there are threads on the forum about the virtues and wastes of CAIs. On the side of virtues, wondering if any of you have experience with the Volant for Tacomas. Good, bad or ugly. Thanks.

I had a volant on my frontier. It was louder than stock, but the throttle was a little more responsive and my mpg’s did go up one to two miles

I purchase a volant CAI for my 3rd gen taco, have yet to install it though. I'm interested in the outcome as it doesn't seem like there have been a lot of 3rd gens running them. I'll report back..

I had that same Volant system with the scoop on my 2012 Tacoma and I could definitely tell the difference especially pulling my bass boat. I am thinking about installing the same on my 2018 Tacoma, but afraid it will void warranty. I would probably have to keep stock air filter in case of warranty work I would have to reinstall factory to cover my ass.

In the process now of making it mine.
Bwredneck, Did you ever install that Volant Ram Air Intake on your Gen 3 Tacoma?

**My apologies for dredging up an old thread. I'm genuinely interested in one, and didn't want to make a new thread.

I just purchased the Volant for my 22' Tacoma. Install was easy, Website said it was good for 3rd generation but install instructions said were through 2018. Not sure if they just threw in old instructions or what. Had to modify the air box slightly to match the bolt holes...

First time driving sensors came on like crazy. A bit louder, as expected when you are pushing more air through. Will have to see on power, acceleration, mpg review...

Throttle response is way better, prior to installing there was pause on initial pressure of gas pedal. Now it is mostly gone.

Efficiency went up 1-2 mph. Response I feel is has improved, I don't have the dyno testing to give any specifics.

I ordered the powercore filter with it and even when disconnecting the negative terminal of the battery, which is supposed to reset the Mass Air Flow Sensor, it kept lighting up my dashboard. I called Volant and they said that often times that filter which is their best one, sometimes brings in to much air for the Tacoma. They have sent me the maxflo filter free of charge to see if that fixes the sensor. I am still waiting for it to arrive.
