    Because painting costs money

If anything it would increase cooling alot because of the aditional coolant as well another heat exchanger. But also one more thing to fail on a trail, and I would hate to try to make that trail fix and not have 3 gallons of coolant on hanf
    Solid pass.

How'd the gears turn out? Any news on the 35s? I'm looking to move to 35s, and am trying to decide on 4.10s or 4.56s...

Ok I guess. They are fun AF with the larger 33s, but definitely need 35s. I've got that noise on decel that I think is something up inside the diff, but I've been assured it won't grenade. Just dropped off more gears and another ARB locker to be setup in my stock diff, I'll install it after Pismo and see if I have the same problem. Dude is setting up the second diff for free because of my issue with the first one. But he keeps insisting its the Nitro gears and not his fault. I tried to order Yukon gears instead and ECGS actually called me to insist I use nitro gears as they are better quality than Yukons and they've got thousands of trucks running Nitro gears with zero issues. So if dude sets my second diff up wrong, we're gonna have a fuckin chat.

35s probably won't happen until I can get an engine cage going, since I already rub the inner sheet metal with the 33s slightly at full bump and I don't want to limit my uptravel. Started tubbing one day and the sheet metal started splitting, so I need somone to cut them up higher and weld in some new patches to clear 35s.

I would go 4.56 again every time. With 33s and 4.56 I'm at about 3k rpms at 75. If you've got the Auto you'd probably be around 2900 or so. Once you go 35s that will drop down to more reasonable numbers I'm sure.

I'll tie the heat exchanger in on the radiator loop, so it won't affect cold start up, but once the thermostat opens it should help alot with cooking the engine.

I'll probably actually run a three part heat exchanger, a very short loop off the rad, so that I limit the amount of extra coolant needed on the main loop, and reduce points of failure. Then a second loop with food grade glycol (think beer cooler setup) into the hot water tank.

Or maybe I'll do it the simple way and use an electric heating element...

The bigger question is where to put the water tanks.

Could go crazy like some Race trucks I've seen and run and secondary radiator instead of a tailgate . I believe you still get airflow down in to the bed.

sucks about the gear noise. At least you have a backup. I'm going with Nitro and ECGS once I'm ready. I'll stay with the e-locker though for $ reasons.

I hear you about clearance. The previous owner ran 35s and I can see all the rubbing and smashing that occurred from hucking and lord knows what other fun abuse happened.

used the site http://www.grimmjeeper.com/gears.html to look at RPMs, and I've read here and there that the R60 6 speed transmissions are fine with 4.10 gears, since they have a tall overdrive. Looking at the specs on that site, it would save about 300 rpms at 75mph, without sacrificing too much in the lower gears for power. I'm still so undecided.... specially since I might go 37s... have a set of 16.5 military take offs, like new, but then rim problems...

Oh wait, didn't notice you're a 6 speed! Yeah if you're sticking with 33s then 4.10s would be fine, but if you're going 35s or even 37s, I'd highly recommend 4.56 or even 4.88 for 37s. 4.56/6speed/35s is damn near perfect ratios and closest to stock power band from what I hear.

Also remember, the bigger the tire, the more weight you're throwing around, so even if your RPMs are a little higher than stock, you'll still be losing a bit of power trying to turn them.

Yeah I'm going to Pismo this weekend so I'm praying the rear doesn't grenade, if it does, oh well, I can swap in the new diff and go for a quick drive to break in the gears lol. If it does grenade, hopefully its like Sunday morning or something, so I at least get 2 good days in lol. Anyways, I'll be swapping in the spare diff whenever I get a chance after Pismo and breaking it in slowly, probably do 1000 miles before I have fun boosting around, and then I'm definitely sending the loud diff to ECGS.

How about tank tracks?? No rubbing issues and plenty of offline grip?? What a hole shot!!! They'd have to repair the asphalt after the first run. And a warm up burnout from the pit would dig you in halfway to china.
    Well..... it's just an idea.

Do you realize with a built in already heat exchanger you are halfway to a functioning air conditioning system or refrigeration unit!

Yes. And I have to admit that running a cooling loop through the AC condenser for cold water has occurred to me too. I'll probably save that for when I win the lottery and build a UniMog thought.

Couple shots from Pismo last weekend. Had a GoPro fail, so I didn't really get any good footage, and I wasn't really in a selfie mood at all, so these shots are from buddies. Pismo was pretty tame this time around. Fence line had about 5 total whoops along the whole thing lol, comp Hill was no where to be found, and after spending hours looking for a good spot, we still couldn't find a good jump Hill that didn't bash my front end on the approach. Maybe next time!

Do you have any armor on the bottom of the IFS, did/oil pan area? Or just the bumper on the front?

I have the plate for under the IFS spot I just haven't installed it yet. The stock bolt points under the trans/engine were pretty rusted out and I didn't want to crossthread a bolt into them. Got a big ass tap and die kit I need to utilize and clean them up. A little worried I may have tweaked the front skid from a couple front hits, so we'll see if the bottom skid still lines up or not lol. Already talked to my fab guy about cutting that tube work out and doing a better one that's more tucked up for better clearance

No real updates, have been busy with work and pregnant wife lately. I'll get around to truck stuff one of these days. Next on the list is cleaning the garage out so I can park the truck in it
