Been looking at the stealth custom series F5s for awhile now but the volk TE37XTs really have me second guessing the F5s. Volks are way more expensive so whats the benefit’s of them compared to F5s? Does anyone have experience with both??

I have experience with both, honestly the volks feel like they have a slightly better finish that seems to pop more, but I usually believe that volk owners are more anal with cleaning their rims. We had a fresh set of SCS rims in today and they looked great.

Never seen issues with either. I'd go F5's simply due to cost.

Cost wise you can almost get 4 SCS for one Volk.

SCS are flow formed and Volk are forged.
Bills are lighter but the F5 is pretty light considering it’s not forged. Forget number but strength and weight are the big factors. (Besides the cost)

There is no benefit whatsoever man they do the exact same thing as the wheels you have now. Just depends on what you prefer and are willing to pay for.

It blows my mind how much more expensive volks are. Doesnt sound like there are much more benefits besides the name and look.

Volks are some of the best wheels ever made.

SCS are exceptionally well made wheels.

Volks are probably a pound or two lighter but is several hounded bucks worth a pound or two?

That said I run SCS wheels and have been very happy with them.

Personally I think volks would be a waste on a truck, especially one that's going to off road.

If you haven’t spent a good portion of your life lusting over JDM swag than there probably isn’t enough justification to opt for the price increase of the volks. Just go with SCS and know you made a good choice, they are great wheels.

SCS wheels allow ET lug nuts, which is a big plus for added thread engagement and peace of mind for security.
However, Tacomas stock wheel studs are long enough you can still get enough turns even just use regular conical lug nuts, which are what Volks use.

SCS wheels are hub centric to Tacoma, not having to worry about hub centric rings. Volks in theory need hub centric rings (but in practice, if properly installed, no rings needed).

As for resell value, I believe Volks are better because of JDM and all that. SCS limited colors are also highly sought after too. But regular finishes, people just buy new from SCS unless they are heavily discounted

And lastly, as mentioned above, for performance (acceleration, stopping, fuel efficiency), Volks weight saving is not so important to a truck. That's why I only run Volks on the car that can benefit from it.

I thought about getting Volks for the 4Runner, but then decide not to and go with F5s for the reason I stated. 4Runner stock wheel studs are very short.

I would be lying if I didn’t consider Vilks but couldn’t sit on the price. As the truck gets heavier angering and everything helps. G5’s are pretty light and also FN are almost a in similar to weight. As some Volks. Still on or 2 off but when your at 20lb or less it’s debatable if it matters especially on a truck.

A week or so after i got my wheels and tires, i went on a 3+ day wheeling trip totaling over 150miles of off road driving. Fire roads, rock gardens, you name it. My wheels took a beating and thats what i bought them for. I couldnt imagine trying to enjoy my truck while worrying about scratching my wheels... I guess maybe if i only drove to the mall.

Volks seem like theyre way too expensive to beat up.

I’ve gone from SCS F5s, RRWs, Method, TE37XTs now to Gramlights and I can say 100% from actual ownership if you want an extremely strong and light wheel then the TE37 cannot be beat. The rim with cap and forged aluminum nuts weight maybe 18lbs TOTAL. I don’t know of many wheels that are that light for a 17x8.5… my current Gramlights aren’t even that light lol.

Strength, finish, weight, heritage and resell value are its top points. If none of that matters or you’re on a budget Rays wheels aren’t for you and there’s nothing wrong with that.

Honestly, if you plan to use the truck off road at all or bash your rims I can’t justify the Volks. Aside from that, the -20 offset is discontinued so to find a set you’d really be paying premium. The other offsets don’t appeal to my liking but that’s just me. I’ve had Ray10s and F5s and, although flashy in my opinion, I don’t mind taking them onto trails for the reasonable price I paid.

As an SCS Ray10 owner, I've witnessed that TE's offroad just as well. My trail budies have better taste than me...

I go offroad with my volks and when I finally get some rock rash I will wear it like a badge of honor. Keep em pristine for the mall or beat on em offroad...either way you're enjoying them so you're using them right.
