I searched TW and read multiple threads about issues with Toyota's white paints. Blazing blue pearl has also been mentioned.
Have there been issues with Voodoo blue paint flacking off?
How about Lunar Rock or Barcelona Red?
I searched the forum, but could not find anything about those 3 colors.

I haven't heard of any. White is the only one I know of with paint issues and I believe that was due to the way it is applied compared to standard paint. Other colors have had some issues with the clear coat but those seem more rare.

I have seen a few voodoo blue FJs down here in AZ with pretty badly faded clear coats but lets be honest.... 120* will do that to any color after a couple years if not properly protected. So far no issues with voodoo blue. It cleans up great and seems to not have any funny spots

My wife's 2014 RAV4 is Barcelona red also. Other than a couple of obvious rock chips, no issues with the paint. That's one of the 3 colors I am considering. 2021 in Voodoo Blue or Barcelona Red, 2022 in Luna Rock, VD or BR.
Thank you for all of the replies!!!

I am in GA, and car port is life saver. I am clearing up and graveling the pole barn, so the rest of the family vehicles could be parked in the shade. 4 kids in the family, incl. 1 driver, and 2 soon to be drivers. Yea my insurance rates!

Ouch, that’s Blazing Blue Pearl - I did hear that could have some issues. Fwiw my 2019 Cav Blue still looks pristine…

If that was mine I would be pissed. That does not look good for Toyota vehicles. What year is that Taco maybe he should take it to a dealer and have them send pics to Toyota and see what they think or will do about this. just saying.

Its pretty bad. I was shocked to see it in that kind of condition. Even on the door along the window has peeling as well. And the fact that its in WA state and garaged kept and its peeled this much makes it crazy. Paints prob worse then the cheap maaco paint.

They have been using crap paint on Tacoma/Tundras for years. On the plant tour, they go into detail how they use this water based paint that environmentally friendly to the workers/factory/earth. I think that is what makes it so bad. So I think we essentially have watercolors on our trucks. The paint on my 2012 chips so easily and is extremely thin. I wax it twice a year and have done clay bar a few times in the past 10 years which has helped.
Say what you want about General Motors, but they use that bad ass Dupont paint that is the best in the industry.

um, most OEM's now use the water based paint, due to the EPA cracking down on the stuff that eats the atmosphere, or something.

I still would like to know what year that Taco is cause warranties cover 5 years on paint and corrision if I am not mistaken.
