So long story short, Vroom wants to give me MORE than I paid for a Tacoma with 60k on the odometer. It’s a cool truck and was my dream truck that I bought when I graduated college, but this is a tempting offer all things considered.

Think Tacoma prices will ever go back to normal? I can drive my motorcycle and shit Corolla for the time being… albeit going on zero dates with women, but I digress.

If tacomas will go back to normal I’ll just pick one up then, just curious what others think

Once the supply catches up, the prices will equalize. These high prices will not sustain itself forever.

My 2014 with 65k on it is booking for about what I paid for it 7 years ago. This will not last, so if somebody wants to give me 35k for my 25k truck…..

If you decide to do it, I would take off as much of your aftermarket add on's as possible, it makes no difference in the value they give you and you can sell them on your own.

The market won’t remain like this forever. A 2021 I paid $30k for is now worth $43k. If you don’t need it, take the money and run.

Prices generally never go down...on new stuff. Unless you choose a lower trim model, but the what's the point?

it’s for the benefit of said dates, the Corolla is my (German Shepherd) dog hauler and the seats are cloth. You can do the math from there.

Also coming from the guy with a BMW as his profile picture named Edwin.

Unfortunately, I think now more than ever the future is a little hard to predict. If you need the money and want to do it, do it. But don't bank on being able to get back into a similar or better truck easily. The price of everything is increasing. We are seeing inflation, though a lot of people are choosing to ignore it. We've also developed a culture were pretty much no one can actually afford to pay for a car, school, or a house. We all focus on what monthly payment we can afford. With that comes a disconnect from the actual cost and money is so cheap (so easy to get a loan) we all just keep playing this game. so I think in the short term, yea this weird price spike will settle down. But car prices in general are for sure going to continue to go up. But hey if this rocket ship we've been riding finally falls, then it won't matter because none of us will be able to buy a truck. Basically, don't count on "normal" any time soon.

I don't know the tax situation is in the US but my $45,000 truck cost me $50,000 out the door. So you have to calculate the extra $5,000 as a loss.

These times are very nuts, but it’s a rather easy to figure out that the production struggles for all car manufacturers will be this way for 12 plus months. That will keep used car values super high. Buying a used vehicle right now would be one of the worst decisions to make. Buying new at a reasonable price at or below MSRP with a low interest rate and trading in any vehicle with a very overinflated value is a very smart thing to do if you can find what you actually want..... you just have to be patient and find a dealer that isn’t a a jackass....
