    just got back from dealer quote and reading my paperwork, apparently the 4x4 Off-road package has the VSC+ATRC.

    what does that mean, and how does it differ from the Std VSC+TRAC w/HAC & DAC that i assume comes with the SPORT 4x4?

    Do a search. There are tons of threads about these options...

    Here's the short version

    4x4 TRD Offroad comes with VSC and A-TRAC, DAC, HAC, LSD, and the locking rear diff ... A-TRAC works like a limited slip on all four wheels or if you lock the rear diff, it acts like a front axle limited slip...

    4x4 TRD Sport comes with VSC, TRAC, and LSD...

    hi, i'm just a beginner tuck person. i did search, but it's still confusing. the only things i could figure out are:

    VSC = vehicle stability control
    LSD = limited slip differential
    HAC = hill assist control (?)

    To many people relying on a bunch of buttons,instead of the material between their ears.Here it is in a nut shell push all the buttons on close your eyes stomp on the gas and get through any obstacle.LOL no I am fucking kidding google each buttons label, and thank david k for explaining how to use your buttons on every single one of these posts.Dont worry there will be 25 more tomorrow to confuse you.This is like when the Harsh Ride TSB first came out.

    The main point is, just dial it to H4 (it will automatically be in TRAC) and it will do most anything... better than before. If you need to crawl, L4 and push the A-TRAC button.

    Here is my Taco on the beach in Baja, H4, no air reduction in tires needed...

    Hi Tim, well this one isn't my thread, just trying to help... The info. in my signature back in 2010 (when this thread was posted) used to include the 9 drive modes... I have since changed that. Here they are:

    1) 2WD: VSC and TRAC active, engine regulated ('Limited Slip Lite').
    2) 2WD: 'AUTO LSD' ('TRAC OFF MODE'). No engine regulation for 'strong' limited slip.
    3) 2WD: 'VSC OFF MODE' (TRAC is off for 'open differential').
    4) 4WD-Hi: VSC and TRAC active. No engine regulation for 'strong' limited slip.
    5) 4WD-Hi: 'VSC OFF MODE' (TRAC is off for 'open differentials').
    6) 4WD-Lo: VSC and TRAC are both off in L4 ('open differentials').
    7) 4WD-Lo: 'A-TRAC' on gives a 'locker-like, super strong' limited slip, front and rear.
    8) 4WD-Lo: Rear Differential Locked and open front differential (A-TRAC off).
    9) 4WD-Lo: RR DIFF LOCK + A-TRAC on, 3 MPH limit.

    TWer 'BGrutter' made this nice chart:
