I recently went to a dealer to get the spiral cable recall issue fixed. While there they talked me into also attending to the first recall regarding unintended acceleration, which I have never had a problem with in the 5 years i have owned the 2007 Tacoma. I was nervous as they said they would have to re-flash the engine. They also did a "courtesy" check without my permission. I drove about 200 miles, parked the truck, and then gassed up two days later to return home. Shortly after that I saw the flashing VSC OFF light and CEL light. Needless to say, I was worried but i got home OK and the truck performed no differently. After reading several forums I find that many have seen these indicator lights come on after filling the tank full, which I did, but I've done that before without any warning lights. I ended up disconnecting the battery for a half hour and that reset the lights. I am wondering if anyone else has had an issue similar to this after taking in their Tacoma for recall service. It sounds like many things can cause these lights to go off but I suspect that re-flashing the engine may really be the issue, or something the dealership forgot to reattach whilst doing their "courtesy" check.
