I was wondering how many turn off the VSC and Trailer sway control for normal driving and if there is a benefit?

I turn off the VSC , but that is because it is hyper~sensitive due to my lift

I think I will start turning mine off since I see no benefit in regular driving dry roads.

Unless you are having issues with the VSC engaging when it shouldn't I don't see what the advantage to turning it off every time you start the truck is

I just have this thing about not having things on that are not going to be utilized and this is easy enough to turn off and back on.

It's not actually off , sensitivity is just greatly reduced

Haven't tried driving like I own a sports car yet but I've not had mine go off yet. Hopefully that means I avoided that issue.

Can you give some supporting documentation to prove your assertion?

I only have personal experience with the traction control engaging when it is in VSC OFF mode

Perhaps but there are lots of other threads that support the same conclusion that in VSC OFF mode , the VSC / Traction Control is actually not off but only greatly less sensitive

In short , if it makes you feel better to turn it off , go for it

I agree with OZ no matter what its lurking in the background, it basically giving you a longer leash to play around with but its still there regardless

Toyota disagrees. They say it is off, not lurking.

Ya know, it all depends on whether you one-touch the "VSC OFF" button or hold it down for three seconds. One-touching it disables/enables some of the three systems, holding it down disables all of them and they don't come back on if speed increases (which occurs in some modes). There's something like 10 different modes on the truck.

This thread goes through all of them http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/te...-lsd-explained-easy-understand-i-hope-67.html

Here's a breakdown I went through the other day for my truck:

2WD (either 2WD models or 4WD models) default mode: VSC on, TRAC on.
2WD (either 2WD models or 4WD models) briefly pressing the "VSC OFF" switch: VSC off, Auto-LSD on. TRAC comes back on at ~ 30 MPH
2WD (either 2WD models or 4WD models) HOLDING "VSC OFF" switch down: VSC off, TRAC off, Auto-LSD off. Open differential.
4HI default mode: VSC on and TRAC on.
4HI briefly pressing "VSC OFF" switch: VSC on, TRAC off.
4HI holding "VSC OFF" switch down: VSC off, TRAC off. Open differentials.
4LO default mode: VSC off, TRAC off. Open differentials.

TRAC is engine regulation. VSC is brake regulation. Auto-LSD is brake regulation, no engine regulation.

The bottom line is if you hold down the "VSC OFF" button for three seconds everything is off including TSC.

The manual, service writer? Who from Toyota said that, just curious
