OP , if you are so concerned about a system being " on " while you are driving then you may want to consider an ABS bypass switch because essentially ABS is " on " the whole time you are driving as well , and acts similar to your VSC as it only engages when the computer detects a condition that prompts it's engagement

No, if you break the back out into a slide even at low speed it will activate. Have had it happen at speeds 5-10mph.

Ah, ok. Thought you were talking about 4HI. 2WD is a little bit of different animal I guess. Did you have your ABS kill switch on?

They integrated the whole bunch of cluster to prove the Japanese have a sneaky and diabolical sense of humor. This should no longer be in doubt.

20% tint on the front windows. 8-15-13 Installed Icons front and rear with Dakars. 2012 4Runner wheels with 275/70/17 BFG T/A KO2's. Weather Tech mats front and back. Leer shell with Leer Locker and roof racks.
Bringing this back. Ok so I posted what I was going to do to my DCLB (FTW) Tacoma about 3 weeks ago and was totally pumped. I had the lift and installed along with 275 tires and stock 4Runner wheels. When I picked up the truck it was perfect but last Friday I headed out on a fishing trip up north and once in the mountains I experieced the VSC issue and it scared the shit out of me. It happened numerous times driving in the mountains along the river mostly on right turns at about 35 to 40 mph but it did happen on a couple left hand turns. I dealt with it on the trip but since returning home Sunday I have been all over this site researching. Kind of pissed I didn't see this when I was choosing my lift but thats my fault and I'd have lifted it anyways.
So Monday I ordered the device to re-calibrate my VSC but don't think that will solve the problem from what I have read on here so I haven't opened. Yesterday I called the service manager at the dealer I purchased it from (I know the owner and he always takes it in for service for me which seems to really help) and I explained to him what I'd done to my truck and before I fisished he interrupted and said "you're now having trouble with the VSC". I said right and asked whats the easiest and best solution? I mentioned bringing it it to have it re-calibrated was suggested by several here and he said thats not going to solve it. He has had a similar issue with his but removed the lift but what he suggested (but said I didn't here if from him...liability I assume) from others in the service department was disable the yaw under the center console. He is sending me a wiring diagram and instructions today to pull the ground wires from the yaw problem is it will also disable the ABS and will illuminate one of the warning lights on the dash. He said that if it solves the problem and I can live without the ABS I would pull the bulb that illuminates the warning light next time its in for service. If I want to reconnect I can just plug the ground wire back in.

Will anything else be affected? I just want to know it won't happen again unless I put the ground back. BensonX had a good detailed way of installing a by-pass switch

    Thoughts???

Get the VSC recalibration done at the dealer first if he's willing to do it for you , if that doesn't work , do the ABS bypass mod

I recommend the Landphil method which is switchable inside the cab

This mod will work with trucks that have VSC

    http://www.tacomaworld.com/forum/2n...locking-diff-write-up-pics-8.html#post5324525

For the mean time you can turn VSC off by pushing and holding the VSC button for 5 seconds at a stop , hold till the AUTO LSD light goes out leaving only the VSC OFF light illuminated

You will need to do that each time you start the truck as it resets

Did you get an alignment done after lifting ?

Is your steering wheel centred ?

So did you have the VSC engaged or disengaged when this happened and how much lift are you talking about? Also if you feel that this is a manufacturer problem, and it sounds like it might be, you can report it here.

Lol complaining gives you nothing because all trucks are now mandated to have this. Last Tacoma model was 2008 to not include that garbage.
    Mine is always off

That is incorrect. Just because something is mandated does not mean it is to function in a dangerous manner. If the unit is working in a manner that is dangerous than it needs to be reported so it can be corrected.

savedone...it happened when both engaged and disengaged. I think the disengaged mode just lowers the sensitivity as OZ-T has said before. I installed Icons all the way around and Dakars with 275/70/17's over 2012 17" 4Runner stock wheels.

It works fine if you dont put lift.
Toyota says you can not put lift.
It can not be corrected for something that should not be in first place.

Yes it is. All vehicles are mandated to be equipped with traction control that has to be On all the time.
Which part of On all the time is not understood.
If you wanted truck with out traction control should have bought early truck.
    :D
