Anyone had success performing a Zero Point Recalibration on a 3rd Gen Tacoma using the paper clip method?

    https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads...ibrate-your-vsc-computer-the-easy-way.467485/

I can't get it to work and not sure what I am doing wrong. I never get the VSC (slip) and ABS warning light to flash like the instructions say they should. I have rigged up a switch with some pigtail wires to make sure I am connecting and disconnecting Pin 4 and Pin 12 on the OBDC connector 4 or more times in the 8 second window.

I have triple checked that I am using the right pins on the OBDC connector. Ohmed out my switch to make sure i have wires soldered to the right leads. Have also tried with just two paperclips. Not sure what I am doing wrong.

Here is a thread on a Tundra forum that has the same procedure:

    http://www.tundratalk.net/forums/tu...int-recalibration-sensor-shimming-2017-a.html

If you have gotten this to work what "mode" did you have the Push To Start in? Do you actually crank the engine? Or leave your foot off the brake (automatic trans) and push the PTS button once to get the accessories on or twice to get the dash and everything else to come on?

Any ideas would be greatly appreciated? Really trying to avoid having to pay the dealer to reset the VSC for me.

    Thanks!

These are the instructions I have been following. Step ‘c’ is where I get into trouble. My VSC is already on.

The slip indicator and abs lamps are supposed to blink semi-slowly, independently of each other when you successfully clear the zero point (step 4) and they are supposed to blink quickly together when you set the new zero point (step 5.)

Make sure the vehicle is in park. Ignition will need to be turned to the ON position (two push button presses from OFF without pressing the brake) in both instances. No cranking necessary. Truck should be within 1 degree of level with the steering wheel straight.

Thanks. I must be doing something else wrong. Will try again tonight.

Good luck with your issue. Hope you don't have to resort to a dealer visit. That's what I'm trying to avoid.

BTW the instructions you posted are the exact same ones in the 2016 Tacoma FSM.

Thanks again. At least I now know I am following the right set of instructions.
