Can easily get a more wattage solar panel thats not stuck to your vehicle that will be more useful for like less than 1/5th the cost.

Amazon, ebay... take your choice. I have a smaller 20w panel that I got off amazon for like 25-30 bucks that i bring on longer camp trips to keep the smaller motorcycle sized lead acid battery of my jumper pack topped off as its used for lighting around camp.

Shit bolted onto other shit, and junk.

    Start here.

    https://www.mobile-solarpower.com/diy-solar-blueprints.html

What makes this kit expensive is 1. Flexible panels are more expensive than rigid. 2. It is produced for convenience and already put together with a controller to be plug and play. 3. Convenience is expensive.

The link above links great products and explains the why. Also shows how to assemble your setup

I just installed a 12V system with converter, controller, remote panel and 300W of panels with LiFePO4 100ah battery for about 1500 total.

With my luck some asshole would steal it off my truck. And if they couldn't get it off they would smash it.

Way too expensive. Your paying for the “cool” factor of a hood mounted panel. Hard framed panels can be had for a buck a watt and a good charge controller is $100.
I built my whole setup, 190W panel, LiFePO4 battery, fuse block, and everything for a couple hundred bucks more than this.
