Hey all! I just bought a 2017 Sport this past weekend and thought I’d check out this forum. On thing that caught my attention was bed stiffeners. Who would have thought you would have to reinforce the bed on any truck? Seems counterintuitive. That having been said, what other vulnerabilities will I have to watch for?

you don't have to reinforce the bed. It's fine the way it is and thousands of people run the truck on and offroad without it.

    welcome to the forum.

bed stiffeners help for trucks with shells or any prolonged weight that may distort the bed after a while. unless you're planning on getting a shell or anything, you should be good.

as far as anything else to look out for-- maybe rear diff breather relocation and rerouting the drain from the AC.

Actually, I came from a 2017 with all sorts of interesting sounds and weird quirks. My 2018 has none of these issues. But that's just my experience.

Shave the bracket down on the front of the engine. Crossover hose or whatever it is rubs on it.

I have yet to take a pic! It’s bone stock though, so it looks just like any brochure you might have seen. I’ll get a pic up sometime.

Thanks. Only had 8K miles on it. Couldn’t pass it up. I looked at a couple of other models on the lot. They were all within a few hundred dollars but the others had at least 12K more miles.

Not sure which bracket you are referring to. Is this a common issue? Do you have a pic or is there a write up you can point me to?

Welcome to TW! You have absolutely nothing to worry about. Enjoy your purchase. The only benefit of “bed stiffeners” are the tie-down anchoring points.
****Update**** your profile doesn’t indicate where you reside. Should you be in an climate susceptible to rust, adapt a system of preventive maintenance. Everything and more you will find on this site. Congratulations

Welcome to TW and to the skewp family! :cool:Nice rig! Dont know any vulnerabilities, but i can recommend removing the front air dam, looks 100 times better without it IMO. Cheapest and quickest "mod" on the sport.

I was hoping not to be reminded those three words together. Actuality, I loved the training and my family liked Ft. Knox better than any other base. Scouts Out!

the stock location drips on the frame and people are afraid of potential rusting.
