From Wikipedia. What's the story for Tacos? Did a quick search and found nothing.

    VVT-i Oil Supply Hose Issues

In 2010, Toyota USA announced a Limited Service Campaign (LSC 90K) to replace the rubber portion of the oil supply hose for the VVT-i actuator, which were found to be defective. In all, approximately 1.6 million vehicles manufactured prior to 2008 were affected. The defective oil supply hoses were prone to degradation and eventual rupture, causing oil to rapidly leak and resulting in permanent engine damage.

In 2014, the LSC 90K Campaign was extended to December 31, 2011 on 117,500 Toyota brand vehicles that were "missed" during the initial campaign.

I don't know that the Taco V6 has such a hose. I know the 3.5 in our 07 Lexus ES350 does, as it ruptured. Guess I never thought to see if my Taco has the same hose. Will check tonight but I'm pretty sure it doesn't. On the 3.5 the hose runs down the front middle of the engine. I'd like to think I would have noticed it when I changed the serpentine belt last year.

hmm well I'm glad I brought it up. I'm interested to hear. Myself I will be purchasing a 2009 2.7 shortly, so if anyone has any knowledge concerning the 4 cylinder that would be great. I owned a '98 2.7 but that of course doesn't have the vvt-i.

Confirmed with a visual my V6 don't have those VVT lines.

Looked at the service manual for the 2.7L and it doesn't have the tubes either.
