My offer arrived this morning! Finally. I made a deal with the wife that I wouldn't buy parts for the tacoma until the jetta was gone. Its about to get crazy over here!

I *should* be getting my offer by mid week according to the claims rep I spoke with. Hope they hurry up so I can have the down payment for my wife's new car when her lease is up in Feb without having to dip into savings.

Got my offer letter this morning on my way to get my wife's Chevy serviced. Had it notarized on the way home and uploaded via PDF by 1:30. Let's see how long this next step takes...

That's fine with me, just glad to get a final number and have the paperwork sent back. I got the Taco to replace the Golf as it sits unused in the garage. Just hope to have the monies finalized by time my wife's lease is up end of January.

Final number on paperwork may not reflect actual funds that end up in your account after buyback. The value on the letter is reflective of the original mileage first entered wayyyyyy back when this process first started.

If you cross a mileage threshold, they will knock your buyback value down.

    Ask me how I know...

But overall, the actual buyback appointment is pretty painless. Unfortunately, you don't walk away with the money day of... you are contacted within 3 business days by Chase to arrange the funds transfer.

I will actually end up with more as it's been parked for months and mileage is fairly low (under 70k on a 2012) and the payoff amount was quoted before the last $400 payment was credited to the account. The 3 days EFT thing doesn't bother me as long as I know the money is en route. I just want to get the Taco into the garage before snow flies; even if it means putting the TDI in the back 40

After getting a VW buyback, maybe Toyota can buy back y'alls Tacoma when the frame rusts.

I still have 4 weeks to go from what the rep just told me. But I have an 08 tacoma to trade in ( Hopefully get 10K for it) and then with the rest of the buyback money, i'm buying a 4 runner.

Yota already did that once, I doubt they go that route again.

Just curious, but why turn the car in so early if you can essentially drive the car for free (~1,000 miles/mo without affecting buyback price) until Sep 2018? We have a '15 GSW TDI SE 6MT that we are going to the buyback on but considering our buyback doesn't net us money on the original transaction (first generic quote was $29k buyback - we were ~$32k OTD after TTL, CA 8.5% tax screwed us so we're out $3k on the car). Since that's the case, I'd rather be "paying" $3k for using the car for 3 years versus 1 (we bought right before it became public in Aug 2015).

I'm of the mindset that I need to get rid of this car while the gettin's good....I don't want to take the chance of crashing it etc. VW is paying me way more than the cars currently worth.

    Bird in the hand...

Also, no one is certain how this potential new Audio tranny cheating scandal could financially rock VW corporate.

I think I'll just take my money now please
