I've already been thru several cheap, disposable cars..... Yes, your correct, I believe it's the miles that killed me on it.

Yea pretty much... I'm tired of the smells in the cabin with me. I do have uses for the truck bed. I do see your point, though. I didn't expect to get 20 mpg in the taco. I was expecting 40+ in the VW but I averaged 36 and best was 38 twice. I had several friends averaging 42 and 43. I'm honestly fairly easy on the throttle and most of the miles are on the freeway. As I've mentioned a couple other places here, the TDI I had seemed to have some other underlying issues that I could not get addressed. That is part of my thinking as well- if I go with a new truck, then a lot of things that fail will be under a warranty hopefully, whereas, with the cheap used cars I've gotten the last few times, it's been on me for repairs.

I'm also considering quitting the job and becoming a vagabond, it would probably be cheaper. Ok, not quite but I have been looking around for something different. I am good at what I do but almost everything is over the phone or email and there is no good reason why I need to be at the office every day. the company is looking at changing the corporate policy and I'm sort of betting on that happening as well so that is part of my motivation as well.

We have 5 in the office with TDI's and we can't find a rhyme or reason to the timing. We all put in initially as soon as it was possible, within a span of about 20 minutes, because we had all been in a meeting about something and one of us noticed the email come in so we just sat at the same laptop and did our stuff. Ever since then, it has been like popcorn as to who get's what when. 1 of the guys already turned his in, 1 of them bought a different VW and his car is sitting on the lot but the dealer is floating it till the paperwork comes thru, 2 of us are having to wait till end of Jan and one of us hasn't even received the confirmation yet.

FYI: Turned mine in Thursday afternoon. Received email from Chase within 12 hours. Registered and confirmed Deposit details late Friday night. $ showed "Pending" Monday and "Available" Tuesday. So less than 3 business days total (Might have been 2 if I had responded faster).

This is what I did, but bought a first gen for $9600. Turns out that's about what VW is paying me over paying off my 2015. Ends up they are paying me a grand over what I paid for it.

We submitted our notarized offers last week and got the finalized notice Monday. Cars are scheduled to be turned in on 1/26 and 1/30. Stupid that they can't take both at the same time. Getting about $19K for the '12 Golf with 70,000 miles and $24K for the '14 Beetle with 36,000 miles. I am still not convinced a 3rd Gen Tacoma is proven enough to buy, but the Mazda 3 2.0 we bought to replace the Golf with has been stellar. Not quite as quick but just as agile, plus it routinely gets upper 30's on the highway.

Yea, I did that, there were 8 or 9 total in the list. This was the earliest date any in my area had. I even checked the ones way away from me but they were into Feb. I'm guessing it's based off some formula of how many drivers in any given geographic area or something.

That's cool. Were you fairly low on miles? That seems to be the determining factor on how much people see back. couple of my co-workers are making out great and a couple of us are feeling the sting. It seems like it would be something like a simple flat rate back to everyone - problem is, you get one group happy, the other group is upset and vice versa. I'm not too pleased that I won't get any money back but at the same time, I wore the car out and I'm happy to be out of the loan on it so... I guess it's the best compromise over the whole situation. I sure wish I could get a taco and swap the engines before I turn it in :welder::burnrubber:

I'm at about 25k. I bought it about 2 weeks before the scandal broke. The buyback is based on the value of the car as of September 15 so mileage does play a factor. Then there's a pumitive damage amount on top of that.

The 3 is a great car. My car previous to the TDI was a Mazdaspeed 3. I was really hoping Mazda would bring out another, but it's not in the cards until the next 3 comes out.

A swap would be nice. Power is not far off from the V6. I'm already missing the economy though, but regular fuel is cheaper and I have no payment.

Mileage definitely a huge factor. I have a 2011 golf and they giving me 20.5k for it with 40k miles

WTF! I've been waiting for my "Final Offer" since the beginning of November? They confirmed it had been audited by the 3rd party and was received by VW on Nov. 15th. I call about every week and the keep telling me "You should be getting it this week, call back if you don't." What bullshit! In just the last 6 years, I've bought a 2010 Audi Q7 prestige TDI fully loaded, a 2010 Audi S6, a 2012 Toureg TDI, 2012 Audi S6, and My 2014 Passat TDI, plus VW's i've owned before. Fuck VW, never again.

I applaud vw for what they tried to do. A great motor with good mileage and great power? Yes please.

Mine goes in Friday at 2:30; I suppose I should dust it off and make sure it starts since it's been sitting since mid Sept.

I parked mine too. With my luck it would get turned and totalled before the buyback. Or grenade the fuel pump and take out the motor with it.
