well I got the 2014 tourareg executive with 34k on it we bought new as dealer demo in dec 14 and they finally said that it is final and they weill buy back all them from 09 to 12 but the 13 through 16 models they are looking to fix but then it says if they can fix. what the heck! If!!! this aint right. This truck stickered for $65k and we got it with 5500 dealer demo miles on it for 57k. Then we added a 7 yr 100000 mile warranty on it including all electronics that was another 3500. so we have $62k with tag and tax and warranty we paid just 2 years ago and blue book says 35k now. If they make us fix it they better compensate us at least 15k depreciation because this truck should still blue book for $47k plus warranty and now the true hit from scandal and what fix ill due to performance or egr

So did you like the vehicle when you first bought it. Nice, comfy, tech savvy. Nothings changed but the value, which with a 7 year 100,000k warranty it doesn't sound like you planned on selling anyways. Keep it drive it and have fun.

"Comparison is the death of joy," like how i paid 17k for a 2013 golf with tech that had 40k miles on it and now has 100k miles and I'm getting $20,500 give or take, again different case, don't compare, I bought used.

You can get the warranty remainder refunded easily. I got mine from the dealer when I showed them the odometer reading after the sale. 39,000 of the 100,000 warranty, so I got 61% of the cost of the warranty refunded.

my point is if they do a fix and then it will not be as good I promise they will have to trap more egr stuff then good chance more issues with that and break downs. Plus if we decided we did want to sell we cant because the value fell out due to the scandal on it. Unless they give us $15k and fix it then that would be different because then we could keep it as planned with warranty and if it doesn't drive as good or breaks down due to fix a lot then we would want to sell and it will be at best 30k by then. We want to keep it but only if compensated for all the depreciation which is solid 15k. That way if we want to sell we wont go backwards if we get 5k for trade and they give us 15k for depreciation to add to trade if that happens. My wife loves that truck and does not want to get rid of it and plans on keeping it at least 5 to 7 more years and if no issues with it an they get us depreciation then it will work fine but we still haven't been told the number oe way or other and they say it is done. Just weird how they say if they can fix. hell if they don't have fix stop pulling us along and just buy it back or if they have approve fix what are you giving us $$ wise on top of fix

I don't know they said that they had to buy back the 09 to 2012 if you pull up todays deal on it but then says 13 to 16 they could fix they believe and didn't say anything about offer to buying those back but it didn't give details. Where did you all and when after the judge says it is done did you get real info

I guess I mean, can you just keep it like it is? Do you have to have it fixed or bought back.

No. If we hadn't sold my wife's 2011 Jetta TDI (prior to the announcement of the problem)to get her an AWD vehicle we wouldn't be getting it fixed or bought back. We purchased the vehicle because it got 50+ mpg on the highway and around 40mpg in town. I could care less about the supposed emissions problem. It was a 100% reliable car with comfortable ride and comfortable interior, couldn't have asked for much more.

The fix depends on his location, if his state doesn't do annual inspections then he is in the clear.

not sure on buy back is even option on ours or have to fix. If we get compensation for Depreciation I am sure that will not happen till it is fixed.

Because it has 73k and I'll be getting 21k back. I don't have a parking lot at work and Didn't want to risk totaling and only getting 12-14k. Didn't want to bump into the next mileage bracket and didn't want to do the 80k dsg service. We have the space and income to justify the Tacoma lease (national 239 special) while we waited. Drove it a good amount tonight and forgot how great of a drivers car it really is...

Buyback happened today. It was quick and easy but in terms of the dealer staff I was less than impressed. They were almost what I would consider rude and acted as if I was burdening them by using their facilities to return my car.

No matter, the buyback went smooth and I now await my email from chase.

@crappie man has a 3.0 TDI. There has been no update on the status of the recall for those. They had a court hearing the 22nd(yesterday and his post was 21st) , but nothing is finalized. There is NOTHING to even file at this time for the 3.0 TDI. He's just making shit up or something. I have 2 of the 3.0 TDI, and Audi and the toureg. I get updates for the Q7, but have never gotten anything for my Passat or toureg.

no I am not making anything up. What I said was they reached a final decision and we don't know what it is because it isn't on paper yet but is final through court. What they implied is that they will buy back 2009 to 2012 units and no fix on those and implied that the 2013 to 2016 models they will fix and will not offer buy back on those. My point is if no buy back is offered the truck has dropped at least 15k in depreciation and now imply that they will do a fix. So we all know the only fix is to make the exaust more confined and that means less performance and definitely less mpg and guaranteed more maint with cells and egr. My concern is more great you fix it but if I want to swap vehicles due to this situation the truck is worth 15k so am I now stuck with truck that should have a 52k trade value now that only has a 35k trade value. So I am not making anything up. Again we do not know for sure if a buy back is option on 2013 to 2016 but according to report it leaned that these will be fixed. If I had leased it for 3 years then I wouldn't care because id just turn it in and walk away and it being now worth 15k less wouldn't matter. Not saying if they fix it we keep it another 5 years is not my point the point is the value now dropped 15k and if we want or need to change we lose a lot! So hoping if they only offer fix and no option will they also pay us the 15k we are out due to value now

What makes you think a 2 year old treg should have a 52k trade in? It wasnt even worth 52K private party before scandal (in typical used car prices) Before the scandal broke, i looked at loaded tdi executive's and retail sticker was mid 60's but 1-2 year old were selling private for low 50's. Realistically, those depreciated horribly like all saloon/lux cars in that price range.

You have every right to be upset, like all of us, who were forced to take trade-in for a car that could have sold for more prior to scandal. Some people walk away ahead, some even and a few behind. It sucks but it is what it is.
