My DPF went out at 40K miles luckily covered under emissions warranty which is ironic at this point

As soon as my pump blew, I was looking to get rid of it for a Colorado, that was when the news came out and I couldn't trade it in. Nobody would touch it.

Got the Taco about a month ago as the VW collects leaves in the driveway. Getting around $22k for my 4dr mk6 golf. Just waiting on the appointment.

I have an A3 TDI bought a month before the scandal for $17k and now, they're buying back for $24K win win for me . went ahead to get the TACO last May even before they offered any resolution. already miss the mpg but this truck put a smile on my face every time I drive her.

Still take her out once in a while

Is VW required to destroy the buybacks or are they going to export them to countries w/o emission standards? Cheaters suck, but at least nobody died as a result of the conspiracy unlike GM.

They don't have a fix here yet, I assume they will crunch them if they can't pass emissions tests within the given time frame; they've also violated emissions in other countries from my understanding.

I hope you realize the 6k settlement is part of the buyback. The 6k is built into your buyback figure...

I'd like to buy a container ship full of them at scrap prices and sell them abroad. We're over here losing our minds over PPM type margins and in many parts of the world they have canals of antifreeze flowing into lakes and people burning tires and garbage for heat. You could breath easier inhaling straight off the tailpipe of some of these VWs than the ambient air in some places.

I have the 2012 6spd in the driveway. I picked up the 17 Tacoma DCOR last week. The VW was paid off and I no longer had a payment. I was able to use the time to drag out some negotiations with Toyota, and get the exact truck I wanted at an acceptable price.

I thought that I would miss the turbo and gas milelage more, as I loved that car. But, the taco is so different, I'm having more fun driving it.

VW estimated my buy back 11/1 when I signed up. But like everyone else my documents are pending review. I assume that this will drag out until February.

Now the Jetta is just for bring the dog to the dog park.

common problem with the diesels....including the intake manifold runner position sensors. At least your TDI's dont have the DEF system yet. heater/pump on those fail on the Passats and Touaregs.

    ps. I'm a VW tech

I have a '13 JSW TDI and the buyback is the exact reason why I'm now a new Tacoma owner. The TDI was great, but the DPF, HPFP, EGR, and intake flaps issues didn't bode well for vehicular longevity and it's crazy not to jump at any opportunity to get out of it with the very generous buyback option.

That's why it's really quite funny to see all the people on TW complaining about some of these 3rd gen issues. As a long term BMW and VW / Audi owner, you guys have no idea how good you have it!

I drive a '11 GTI, the CEL is on every other week and I can't wait for my '17 TRD OR AC to arrive in December. I am looking forward to getting away from direct injection and all the carbon build up issues.

    This is cool.

I wish that I owned a VW, so that they can buy me another vehicle with less payments and $ in my pocket.

WTF is going to happen to those cars that were supposed to be on the road for 10 years and are now worthless?

    Hmmmmm....

If I were a recycler I would think that they owe me for taking them....

    RECYCLING LAWYERS WHERE ARE YOU???

EPA is forcing VW to scrap them all... they aren't allowed to ship them to another country with less strict emissions regulations and resell them.

Personally I think they should make a spec racing series and have a bunch of diesel wagons tearing up tracks in North America. If only...

But yea it's pretty sweet deal. Got to put 50k miles over 3 years and I'm only out $2k in equity.

The HPFP is a ticking time bomb. The maintenance is crazy $700 for 40k/80k service (DSG). And about $1100 at 120k to do the timing belt too. That's one of the reasons I bought the toyota.

Still prefer the way that car rides / drives.

14 Passat here, doing the buyback. Enjoyed the car, but it never was like the 2003 Jetta I sold to buy it. Worked great for my 80 or so miles a day round trip, fuelly has me at 40.1mpg. I work more days at home now so the loss there will not be as hurtful to the wallet. Ideally I would have both but their offer just doesn't make sense to take a pass on. Can't burn bio like I could on the 2003 either. We thought we would take the Passat on longer trips, but tend to take the Sienna instead.

My understanding from reading the docs and tdiclub is that if VW can repair them to EPA spec, they can resell them. If they cannot, then they have to crush them. The other part I don't like about taking the payout for fix, is you have to wait for the fix before a check. They do have a deadline, but I can use the cash for other things right now!

The shop I go to mostly only deals with the Germans. Merc BMW audi Porsche vw. So many of his customers tried that whole omg how can vw do that. My mechanic called them out on it. Like really you didn't but it to be green you bought it to save on gas.

I'd buy another one in a heartbeat. I just need a truck.
