Got a response and scheduled my appointment for March. Virtually no time slots available until then

Another silly question, since I still have a loan on the car, I can't provide a title, correct? They tell you to bring the title, but I don't technically "own" the car, so I have no title, and I assume the bank will tell me to pound sand if I ask for it. It sounds like they're going to take the car right then and there so I want to be squared away before I get there.

^^you gave them bank info before you got a final offer and you will sign power of attorney form when you go to appointment, just like when trading in the car on a normal deal.
I finally got my offer approved and checked to schedule appointment. Within 150 miles, not one place before the middle of March! I'm guessing I give them banking info at appointment for EBT?

You sign a POA form at the buyback for the title. You should of gave them the information for the bank early on in the process on one of their forms.

You don't give EFT info at the buyback and all you get is a simplified email receipt from the automatic claims email. 2-3 business days after the buyback you get an email from Chase asking you to make an an account and that's where you put your routing and checking info. It's a little scary walking away so empty handed.

    For me:
Buyback completed: 12/30/16 (Fri before holiday weekend)
    EFT email received: 1/2/17 (Mon)
    EFT payment received: 1/3/17 (Tues)

^thanks for the info. Still not clear what the other poster was saying? I was getting worried because I haven't seen anything regarding how I want my payment and he made it sound like that was taken care of before appointment.

Duh, thanks guys. This process is pretty foreign to me. Never really experienced something like it. But like I said, pretty easy so far. Until they use legal terms and things...little beyond my comprehension :anonymous:

I was given an option of how to receive payment at the same time I scheduled my appointment. Or it may have been when I submitted my notarized form. There's a check box for EFT or Check.

If I remember correctly, you made the selection at the same time as scheduling the appointment.

You actually do the selection of payment with the notarized form. I'm glad I went with a paper check. I gave them the key in exchange for the check in my hand

Ahh you're right. I think it was actually when you sign and return the offer letter. Only potential problem with a check is they do a final offer calculation day of buyback based on the mileage that day. There is the possibility that current mileage could bump you a bracket and lower the payoff amount by a few hundred. If the amount differs from the amount in the check previously calculated, it could take even longer than the EFT to have a check mailed to you for the right amount. Thankfully yours went super smooth!

Yes. It did and I'm glad. I also got an email before my appointment that if there was an adjustment needed that they'll send me a separate check of the difference if a mileage adjustment was needed. thankfully it wasn't needed.

Last ride for our Beetle today- it goes in at 4:00. Sad, because it is a great car, but financially (and longevity) it is the right move. On a happier note, I love the Frontier I bought.

I finally called the hotline to try to figure out what is going on with my buyback. Took a while how to figure out how to talk to a real person. They were basically useless only telling me that my claim is "in process" and that they cannot give me ANY IDEA when the actual buyback will happen. OK thanks VW. I did talk to my credit union who holds the lien and they said they were contacted by VW a few weeks ago. Go figure. Aside from a few emails and a few form letters in the mail, I have not been contacted personally by VW one time since this whole debacle started. I for one hope all the CEO's spend the rest of their days in complete misery. Unlikely I know...

Ahhhhhh finally! What a great feeling!

My docs were approved on 11/16

My credit union was contacted for payoff on Friday 01/20.

Recieved my offer letter via email at 6pm on SATURDAY the 21st.

Notorized the docs on Monday the 23rd and uploaded from the notary parking lot. Got the doc approval email 5 minutes later on my way home!

Turn in scheduled for March 3rd. So happy to be almost done.

I did all my paperwork in a matter of a week, and that was only because it took me so long to do my notarized paperwork.

Idk why your paperwork would be any different.

What do you mean by "did all your paperwork"?

The process is broken down into numbered steps through the portal beginning with the initial submission of your license, registration and title or leinholder info. The final step is scheduling your buy back appointment.

Okay from the step where I take a pic of license, title, and something else. Then while at work I faxed the notary. All don't within about a week including scheduling my appointment which is Feb 4

Yes a weeks time, when I uploaded the documents as in license, title, and the other it got accepted same day. So my boss has the ability to do notaries or whatever so I left the paperwork with her to do that. I go pick them up and scan them upload and well it was all within a week. I have the date stamp on when I took my pic of the title and stuff and then I have the time stamp for when the scanned notarized papers got put on my MacBook.

I can't look up dates on the claims site bc they don't do that.
