I had a 4S and it showed 4G on the screen up at the top... Didn't try the LTE part, and have no idea if the speeds were 4G... I know they weren't as fast as the LTE on my current Straight Talk phone though, I'm getting up to 25mbs down and 6mbs+up

It's an iPhone thing, and false advertising too if you ask me... 4g takes a completely different radio to be built into the phone that differs from what a phone capable of only 3g will have. No iPhone before the 5 was built with a 4g radio in it. They SAY 4g up at the top, but they're really only on a 3g connection. NO iPhone 4 or 4s, no matter the carrier, was built with a 4g antenna in it, they simply do not have the hardware in them to have a 4g connection.

One of the many reasons I despise Apple...

It's like throwing a 4x4 badge on the tailgate of your PreRunner. Might fool a few people, but the truth is it's false advertising and you're missing some essential hardware :p

Verizon does NOT throttle their 4g plans no matter how much you use. As of yet anyway... They could change that at any time, by I don't think they feel the need to since these unlimited plans are slowly but surely disappearing. They'd much rather the people use their high speed internet so much that they go over their 2 or 4 gig plans and have to pay extra... Why would they try and stop people from doing that? lol

Thanks for explaining that. I was dreading typing that one out.

I haven't been throttled yet. I was very aware of when they would when I had a 3G phone but after getting a 4g it definitely was clear no throttling.

they are not allowed to throttle 4G.. when the FCC auctioned off the 700mhz bands, google worked their magic and got laws written into the auction that means that the winner of the auction would not be allowed to ever throttle over that bandwidth... Verizon was the winner and is bound by those laws.. that is why they switched everyone to tiered plans..

Ahhh, seems like I may have heard that before, but the guy I heard it from isn't known for knowing what he's talking about (guy I work with)... ;) I knew the speeds didn't seem nearly as fast as what I'm getting now...

the only good that came out of it was I can now teather without having to hide it with pda net.

Thats because they started to do away with unlimited if you upgraded your phone until AT&T decided to grandfather theres but it was to late, some you already got shafted.

The thing that sucks about these is you have to pay full retail for new phones. Or buy some old used junk.

I remember reading about that when the auction was going on. +1 for google

True but it is worth it if your a heavy user then it is worth it. I got a iPhone 5 a little while back BNIB for 425. It is just the other side of it but I rather not worry about paying overages or any of that stuff. Plus being able to actually watch netflix and such and not worry that afterone or two movies your done with your data

I think it's just a grandfathered in low plan - its a family plan which has been around since i was in 7th grade. (I still have my original phone number) :D

Average bill for a single line is closer to 90-100. I would be happy with 30 but all well I like the service and verizon has always been good to me
