I have a 2014 TRD Sport. The moment I got the truck I went in a huge parking lot, it was winter.
And drew fictitious street curves with the truck.
Then drove thru them at different speeds, going faster each time to see the response.
All this in two wheel drive at first, and I must say I was very impressed with the electronics helping stay the course. Very efficient.
Then went in 4H, and 4L. That showed me how different the turn radius is compared to 2wd.
Then removed the traction assistance fuses. And did my circuit again. And kept loosing the truck in the ditch(had there been one).
So yeah, the stability function do there job, as does the driver.
On another note, I joined a 4×4 club in order to get knowledge and discover my truck and its capabilities. Great idea, meeting people like me, lots a mistake avoided (they have done a lot of those mistakes already, being in 4×4's for many years).
But they don't know everything, since changes occur in vehicles, model variations, etc.
This being said, have fun with your truck. Mine gives my smiles all the time

Your truck will do a lot more in two wheel than u think. Yes in some situation when u dont get the right tration you can put it in 4hi, but when on slushy pavement at fast speeds you really dont need it. Also putting sand bags in the bed will help way the back down so ur back wheels are more dug in the ground. Also going over 60mph or sharp turns as stated before hurt the truck when in 4hi and you should always turn in on 2 wheel drive when parked and turning off truck.

so TRAC OFF has more active traction control than TRAC ON? I thought it was the other way! Wow

    Did I stutter? LOL
Right, with the engine regulation OFF (TRAC OFF MODE), you don't have the throttle cutting power (which it does to prevent tire spin). Instead, only the brake force is applied to a spinning tire allowing maximum power to the good traction tire(s).

Not sure why "active" was added to his reply?
It is either a combination of brakes on the spinning tire(s) and throttle cut, both to stop the spinning OR it is brakes only on the spinning tire(s).

Active Traction Control is A-TRAC, and that is far closer to lockers on the front and back than the standard TRACion control.
