Lots of good F-150 incentives. So many F-150s on the local Ford lot that they are spilling over into the empty lot that is next door.

It's what happens when you get 3 months behind on producing trucks and then try to catch up to GM. It's going to be a tougher year for Ford because of the shutdown while they retooled for aluminum but worth it in the long run.

The 6.0 and subsequent 6.4 were International motors. Their poor reliability is what led Ford to get rid of them and build their own diesel motor from scratch themselves. The first Ford built 6.7L started in 2011. I haven't completely kept up, but I believe the 6.7L is much better than the 6.n0 and 6.4.

Yep. The frame shortage put a damper on production.

FX4 isn't a trim level anymore, it's now a package available on any 4wd for $770....so you can get a base XL trimmed regular cab/bed with a v8 or ecoboost with an elocker if you want, all the way up to a platinum super crew with an elocker...it's great how ford lets you pretty much pick what you want instead of having to buy into a trim level to get something you want and a bunch of stuff you dont...

Just read that the F150 tailgate doesn't have an easydown feature like the new Tacomas. How are my frail little chicken arms supposed to lower it????

Some F150s have it, some don't. I prefer it without. One less thing to break or go sideways.

One can never have too many light bars.
I think these markets merged a little due to the price. It used to be that the midsize truck was a cheaper alternative to the full size trucks that got better gas mileage. Now the Tacoma has moved up into a mid-level full-size truck price range so it's expected to perform like something it's not.

Good choice. When I was truck shopping, the 2014 F-150 was a VERY close second. Had the 2015 been announced I may be driving one of those instead.

You saying the Tacoma tailgate is weak? I sat/stood on the tailgate of my 92 Toyota pickup, and I'm doing the same with my second gen 23 years later! Even sat two people on it.

The second gen Tacoma does have a weak tailgate. People do exaggerate how weak it is, but if you are going to damage something in day to day work on a Tacoma it's likely the tailgate.

Very unlikely... but what if Ford busted out a new Ranger that was a mini-F150? Would definitely give Tacoma / Frontier / Colorado a run for their money.

They still make a ranger just not for the US market...

I wish they would bring the Troller T4 here!

    These aren't your daddy's turbos.

The 3.5 Ecoboost is overbuilt. Both turbos are oil and liquid cooled. Coolant is drawn into both turbos to help extend bearing longevity.

36 gallon gas tank has a lot of appeal. Why the heck with all the re-engineering Toyota couldn't slap a 26 gallon fuel tank in the 2016 I don't know. That would have been a great feature to set it apart in the midsize segment.

But new sheet metal! And a new engine that makes negligible increases in power while providing the same fuel economy as the last one!

Hahaha. I'm not sure the Tacoma could efficiently tow a 26 gallon tank with fuel in it....

a 26 gallon tank would give the tacoma a range well north of 500 miles and probably close to 600 hwy miles. That would be a pretty cheap upgrade and it would make a great commercial.
