    Walgreens fires armed worker

A photograph of four children tucked in a thank-you card from a coworker reminds Jeremy Hoven he did the right thing. But doing "the right thing" cost the night shift pharmacist his job at the Walgreens drugstore at Napier Avenue and M-139. The national pharmacy chain fired Hoven on Monday, eight days after he fired his handgun to foil an armed robbery and a potentially deadly hostage situation at the store.

Pretty wrong of them to fire him. Had a CCW permit and Walgreens never said he couldnt carry one at work and he possibly saved lives because of it. He'll get his job back.

I'm sure Walgreens wouldn't want to be sued from those people getting hurt on their property because of no effective measures taken to provide for customer security.......so give the guy his job back along with a raise and an accomodation for his actions. Stupid fucks don't realize they could use that as advertising how their employess go the extra mile to help their customers while looking out for their employer's property? Should be security already provided SINCE THEY SELL DRUGS. Most banks provide security, same shit.

Indeed, I would understand if they now made it policy to not allow concealed carry by employees, that's their perogative.

But punishing him after the fact when this policy wasn't on the books is BS.

Most companies have similar policies. It's fucked up, but its true.

If I was him, I would have done the same damn thing.

I'm pretty sure you can't conceal carry at any establishment that sells or serves alcohol and most walgreens sell alcohol. Now on the other hand I still think they screwed up and there should be exceptions to the rules especially if you are an employee trying to protect yourself from being robbed

False. Walgreens was bought by mormons years ago, they do not sell alcohol.

Even if that was illegal. (Don't know michigan law.) But I believe it generally is constrained to places that serve alcohol, not sell. (Think bars.)

    Sorry! ^^^ I was wrong.

FWIW, they DID ban alcohol nation-wide except for a select few for the better part of a decade. :D I admit it, I was wrong.

FALSE - All my local Wallgreens sell alcohol. Any convience store or even big box stores like Walmart here in Texas have the warning on the door about concealed firearms not just places that serve.

EDIT - sorry didn't read your posts after this
