Didn't feel like putting up with all the tourist traffic in banff so I drove into Calgary to pick up some stuff for a friend the. Headed south on 2 with a pit stop before I hit the border.

After the border, and complimenting the $75 citation in Glacier nation park...

I ended up in Flathead lake where I got roped into crewing a sprint series for a sailboat regatta. We came in first in our class but I was unfortunately too busy to get any non personal pics.

Unfortunately my plans fell through in Bozeman so I headed south through Missoula and into twin falls idaho.

If I can tear myself away from natgeo I will be hitting Bonneville tonight and unfortunately my appointment at CBI got pushed back due to a delay at powder coating so I have another day to kill. I'm looking at Crater of the Moon National Park. Fingers crossed there's no volcanic eruption..

Session 1 at CBI. Infinite improvement over ground tents. Instructions are terrible so I improvised.

All the volcanos here are dormant or extinct or whatever. It's a strange kind of pretty in the middle of the boring that is Idaho.

Necessary evil for almost a month on the road.

I have a few more days to kill so now that camp is set and I have clean socks, I'm gonna wander around the park and some attractions in Idaho Falls before heading into Yellowstone this weekend.

Oddly enough, item 4 cracked me up. Because it's true. We go to all that trouble to load a pile of music onto the things... then get sick of the song way too soon, and skip past it. Like having a TV remote and not being able to sit all the way through one program before hopping away.

Lots of cool things to see in Oregon, too. But Alaska... right on... that's still on my list of places to drive around in. Went to Ketchikan when I was 14. No driving that trip, though. Fly in, fish some, fly out. Boo for no driving.

So, I'm drinking Patron and also want to see you add to this this thread. Been sub'ed to this thread for a while. Hope to see you do another trip soon.
I did a 6 week, 10,000 mile, 38 state trip back in 2006. I'll be damned if I let a full decade go by before I do another big trip.

I have a standing offer to move back and if my buddy didn't just send me a screenshot of what the weather was........ yeah, might be on my way right now.

I have something in the works, but I need a much better paying job than the brewery.

I drove through for a night and stopped in Laramie on my way back from Alaska. Turns out a buddy of mine is getting his masters and wanted to hand out. we got shithoused at the UW/USAFA football game and I had a hangover for 3 days. set a new personal record for number of times throwing up based on alcoholic consumption..... 18.....

It does rain a fair bit on the west side of the Cascades. We're pondering a move to Eastern Oregon. Four real seasons... and a whole lot more dirt roads.

18 Sessions? Oof. I remember a trip on the Freedom Bird back from duty in Turkey eons ago. The anesthesiologist who lived next door to me in the BOQ threatened to hook me up to an IV if I hadn't stopped barfing by time for the flight. OMG... worst flight ever!

Got in to Phillie at 0200. Someone had installed automatic flushing toilets while I was out of the country. Scared the crap out of me... well almost.
