It's a marketing ploy. Everyone off roaded just fine before they started turning cars into iPads.

I'd be more worried about oil starvation at extreme angles, leaking engines and the other host of known issues with the 3rd gen V6.

Having had both, I’d take the manual.

Crawl control is neat but i never used it. The manual still has ATRAC which does a great job if you ever need it

I much preferred the driving experience of the manual over the automatic. The gearing makes it feel like a completely different truck compared to the auto.

Keep in mind if you want a 6 foot bed double cab you cannot get the manual transmission (at least not in the US).

In April I bought a '24 base Tacoma SR Double Cab 4WD, MT brand new $37. Out-of-state, 600 miles away. Dealer listed it for $2000 under MSRP. Plus I negotiated for 2 days and got another $2000 off

    Think about it

Crawl control is not needed at all.
Manual is the way to go
    Enjoy
I think crawl control was created for city boys who have no clue about off roading.

Congrats! I'd have loved a manual trans but I couldn't do a 5 foot bed.
