I really would like to change my gauges and A/C control lights to a white LED but I don't know which ones to buy and how many of them I need. It is in a '98 Tacoma. If someone could help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks!

There are some prior posts on this. I did mine a few months ago. Got them from superbrightleds.com. The hvac lights required some soldering. I don't like the way the hvac lights came out - there are bright spots where the leds are located - so lighting is uneven. But the dash looks good in white. Pretty easy to do.

I changed my bulbs to leds a while back and have love it ever since! It is four 194 bulbs in the back of the gauge cluster and two 74 bulbs in the hvac panel.

I bought mine from superbrightleds.com and I think the 360 degree bulbs are the best because the single leds leave uneven light. The leds I used also are dimmable despite what some people say that leds aren't dimmable. I used these in the gauge cluster..http://www.superbrightleds.com/more...led-bulb-6-smd-led-wide-angle-wedge-base/211/

and these in the a/c panel..http://www.superbrightleds.com/more...led-bulb-3-smd-led-wide-angle-wedge-base/228/

    Too few to list.
LED's are in fact dimmable and works with the dimmer swtich. Just make sure you get the 360 degree ones to illuminate the cluster properly and make sure to test them out before you put the cluster back in.

Looking at the link above, I did not use those bulbs as those bulbs on the link does not have a forward facing led. I used the ones on the link below. Also, I've gotten bulbs from superbrightleds.com and also off e-bay and Amazon but the superbrightleds are in fact that, brighter then the other brands.

Those are the correct bulb for my 2000 and I doubt anything changed from 98 to 2000. I have had those bulbs in mine for a couple years now and they work great!

The 6SMD LEDS that you posted seem to check out and match up on the vehicle light search on superbrightleds.com, I put in an order for them today and will post some pics when I do the install. Thanks for all the input!

Go easy on taking the cluster out as it needs some manipulating to get out. I remember not being able to get the dash bezel out as the vent kept snagging on something.

I viewed your write up and it does appear that the bulbs are in different locations. The bulbs in yours are behind the a/c panel on the circuit board and 98-00 have two bulbs right behind the plastic cover. Good write up though!
