I am new here on the forums. I have a 2019 TRD sport 4x4 and I would like to put some wheels and tires on it. This is my first truck so I am not knowledgeable about what works and what doesn’t. I have read many of the threads and stickies, but I don’t know how to get what I want just yet.

As the title says, I want to go wider than stock, but I don’t want to lift the truck if possible. I am a short female, 5’3, so I definitely don’t want to have to climb into the truck anymore than I do....lol. Is it possible to put a wider tire (sticks out beyond fender flares) without lifting the truck?

I do occasional 4 wheeling on trails and some sand, but most of my miles are highway. This is my daily driver. Thank you for your help!

    Welcome

    17" diameter
    8.5" width
0mm offset or -6mm offset (the -6mm will stick out 1/4" more than the 0mm)
    6x5.5 bolt pattern

This will allow you to use your stock tires or go up slightly to a 265/70R17 without lifting the truck and have the wheels and tires poke out from the fender.

Caution: you may need to ditch the front mud flaps as the tire could rub them with the wider stance.

Check your local regulations before you go too wide; a lot of states have regulations on how far out past the fenders your tires can be. It'd be a drag to spend all kinds of $$ bumping your stance out just to have some cop pull you over after a week and make you change it back.

Thank you for letting me know to check the regulations. I didn’t know there could be an issue. I don’t want them too wide, and the link above have too wide of a stance for me. I may need to post some pictures of what I like when I meet post requirements.

The wider you go, the more prone you are to rubbing. Not a big deal but something to be aware of as you may need to trim plastic and stuff out of the way.

This would be neat, but I think I would have to lift the truck too.

Welcome! There are many ways to achieve your goals and you have come to the right place.

Just do plenty of research and know beforehand this is not the preferred style around here.

It's going to come down to budget most likely so stick around and check things out before buying!

If you go with spacers make sure they’re spider Trax or BORA. I wouldn’t put anything else on my truck

I'm going to second the guys that recommend spacers, if you don't want to get new rims. They would be the easiest, fastest, cheapest way to accomplish what you're going for.

Recommend only Bora or Spidertrax. I have a +0 Offset rim, and had 1.25" spidertrax spacers, and then exchanged them for .75" Boras. I can post pics if you'd like to see what those look like.

If you're not getting new rims, you'll probably want 1.25" to bring it out to at least flush with the fender flare. If you get new rims, then you'll want to account for the offset when picking what size spacers you want. The smaller (closer to 0, or more negative the offset), the you'll want a smaller spacer, so like .75".

DarthPow, please post some pics. I don’t want to go the cheapest route if it will cause more problems. If it’s better to get wheels that are wider, I would be open to that. I don’t have an endless budget, but I don’t want to skimp on something and create a lot of unnecessary damage to the truck. If I have to lift the truck to get the look I want, I would be open to 2” max.

These are with my rims that are 0 Offset.

    Here's with 1.25” Spidertrax:

    20180714_192716.jpg

    And with .75” Boras
    20190211_070833.jpg

These spacers aren't "cheap," they're quality metal and machining, they're hub and wheel centric, so they won't cause any vibes.

I meant cheapest, as in, they're way cheaper than buying a new set of rims.

Nice truck btw. I think it would look pretty good with the stock wheels and 1.25" spacers, if you don't want to buy a new set of rims right now, but still want the wider stance.

If/when you get new rims, that have a smaller offset, you can sell the spacers if you don't want them anymore.

Ah, gotcha. Thank you for clarifying that about the spacers! It’s good to know I can sell the spacers afterwards. About how much do they cost?

They're usually about $90-100 per pair. I sold my set of 4 1.25" with about 2k miles on them for $175.

The used marketplace on here is very active. Take a look over there.

Just changing wheels and tires changes the whole look of the truck. I know buying wheels and tires cost more but you can offset more than half the cost by selling your stock wheels and tires. Not only that I got the look I wanted, I also got lighter wheels and better tires than stock. Picture below is stock height with a size up in tires. Cost of wheels and tires were about $1200.

Try to borrow a wheel spacer from someone....Try front tire/wheel combo with spacer to see if you're barking up the wrong tree BEFORE you buy tires/wheels/spacers, cut flairs, etc....
