Wow i didn't realize a whole new grill would be that cheap. I've been wanting to black out mine too and i think i may just go with this idea...

me either, i found this link on here the other day while searching for "black grilles". it goes to show that using the search function is useful, lol.

just keep in mind that this is not an OEM grille so it might not fit 100% perfect. if it fits 90-95% that would be acceptable for aftermarket parts. try it out and let me know:D.

You realize all that isn't necessary to remove your factory grille right? :p

Anyway OP I used plastidip on mine. I don't know why but it has a large legion of haters. I'd still recommend it for painting chrome stuff because it sticks way better than paint and the only prep work is wiping everything down with alcohol... beats the hell out of sanding.

It is when you buy a new (black) one that's going after the motor is back in :p

Don't be sad. I brought my new motor home today. Resurection and redemption in motion. :D

I couldn't wait any longer so I ordered up the grille from partsgeek. It actually fits pretty damn good being aftermarket and the price can't be beat. I've also been hearing a lot of good reviews about plasti-dip so I tried on the front chrome bumper. It came out ok, but not what I expected. Since everything was apart up front, I decided to go ahead and do a little make-over with the ashy plastic front bumper and fender flares. It turned out nice and kind of freshen up the truck somewhat. I'll get some pics up soon for you guys.

OP, if you're interested in the grille that was mentioned earlier in the thread, for $35 it's worth the price. It fits pretty damn well being a cheap aftermarket piece.

plasti coat makes a bumper paint that i have used on fender flares, trim molding, ect.. it works pretty good and actually holds up well to the rock chips. i switched to using sem products with better, cleaner results. i got their plastic adhesion in a spray can as well as the bumper black and the stuff is pretty tough. remember its all in the prep how long it will last before it starts chipping. using a plastic adhesion promoter is the way to go and sem products are top notch. any good auto paints place should carry it. if you want to go the cheaper route check out the plasti coat stuff like i said. you can get it at advance, auto zone and most likely wal mart. just make sure anything that is painted or chrome is scuffed up and smooth first for best results. good luck
