image.jpg I’m in San Diego and looking for someone who has experience and would want to retrofit my headlights. Looking for the blacked out look and some upgraded lighting in them as well. I don’t trust myself to do it so here I am looking for someone who wants to make some cash.

Cheaper to buy Non OEM blacked out and they have different styles too not just faux pro...you can get a pair for around $350-400 then pop in LEDs, very easy to do! Then you’ll still have your OEMs for a rainy day as back up. Once OEMs are opened up, no matter if professionally done, you have a great risk of condensation. They’ll never be the same. And for the same amount of $$ you’d pay someone, it’s a no brainer!

Modifying an oem headlight is a better option for most people. You get oem quality, endless options, and if they are resealed correctly there is absolutely no reason to get condensation in a headlight.

What would something like that cost vs. buying after market (non OEM PROs) to achieve the same thing? I am assuming it would be around the same without having to risk the OEMs...realistically speaking. You're also without a vehicle for the time it takes to do so (that's not an issue for those who have multiple vehicles they can use of course).

I charge $300 just to paint them black. The biggest difference is you will get a tinted side marker instead of the giant eye sore orange one. I also stock lights so there is no time without headlights on your truck. I just take your stockers after you install the modded ones.

Nah, non-oem also have cheap thinner lenses that will easily scratch/stress cracks and yellow in no time.

I think if you know what you're doing and have a reputation doing it, I would prefer OEM.

what process do you use to glue them back and i'm assuming you stock OEM's if people ship their units back to you?

Can't argue that, lots of great points made here, and I'm learning too! I guess I've just heard too many horror stories of amateur DIY baking their housings to separate yada yada yada and never been able to achieve the level of OEM seal they once had...

    @no vtec 4me
So it's like a consignment process where you charge extra on top to make sure you get the stockies sent back then refund upon reception?
Please do explain the payment/shipment process, might consider this one day soon!
Have you ever had any come back with condensation?
    Any warranty on workmanship?
Do you reseal the same way the OEM was sealed (i.e. same gunk they used, or better)?
Is it any less if we don't need the bulbs?
    Does all this include shipping?

    This is awesome!

Yes, I only deal with oem lights. I have a few in stock that i keep in rotation. To reseal them i clean out all the original sealant since it can't be reused, then use retrorubber from morimoto to reseal them. Its a sealant made specifically for sealing headlights.

+1 on @no vtec 4me 's work. Loving my lights I purchased from him, especially paired with an HID kit.

Do your own. Ive seen some modders charge $2000. A fully retrofitted set will cost $700 in supplies. As for sealing, clean it out and any butyl glue is fine. I live in wintery canada and not had a single ussue

I lack patience and don't play well with others. Best course of action for this mod and my personality type is to out source.
