Wanting one more inch !!!! Lift that is

I have a 2012 tacoma Trd sport pre runner with ome 3 in lift kit 885 coils from toyotec . I'm wondering if I put 1in blocks on the rear and spacers on the front will it drive like crap and what else would I need ? It drives and feels like stock now .

If you put a spacer on top of your 3" lift you will preload the spring more , stiffening the ride and put more severe of an angle on your tie rods etc. Would not recommend it. If you aren't happy with your 3" not having enough lift install a db lift and just do it right.

 

I would suggest looking into a spindle lift for the front since you have a Prerunner. That will put you at 4" of lift and give the truck a nice stance. You also use your stock coils and shocks for the spindle lift so you could sell off your current 3" setup for the front to offset some of the cost. Additionally, you'll gain your downtravel back since you can go back to stock coils up front. It will ride and handle like stock up front. Other options would include a 1" body lift or a drop bracket lift. Because you have a Prerunner though and do not have to worry about CV angles, a spindle lift would be the best option in my opinion.

For the rear, the best option would be a replacement leaf pack but blocks or an AAL would do the trick.

 

If your just looking for an inch in body height/ tire clearance I'd stick with a puck lift. I know the OME lifts create more clearance under the crossmembers but to add a spacer might create more strain on the CVs.
Yes body lifts aren't the "right" way to go but if you want that extra inch with the same feel that's what you want.
Unless your willing to shell out for a new lift. As explained above.

OME's are not preloaded to begin with and adding a top plate spacer will not preload the springs. I added a 1/4" TPS (to regain 1/2" of the 3/4" I lost when I added sliders & a full set of skids) to my 885s and the ride quality didn't change.
Spindles would be a better choice than a BD lift.

Never said ome's were preloaded but when you start adding spacers on top of it its just as bad as adding spacers on top of the factory coilovers which will preload the springs and give a stiffer ride. Plus going over 3" is not a good idea with his set up. Yes spindles is another option as well

 

No CVs on a 2wd truck...

 

Haha ya I realized that after I reread the post.

 

2" taller tires will net u an inch. Another leaf in the back will just about get u an in back there(1/4 of thickness of leaf then added suspension upgrade) and then just ditch a bunch of weight on the front end. Not sayin these are the best options, just the best that haven't been posted already.
