I took it off the first time I changed the oil. Seemed to be in the way of removing the skid plate. I did keep it...in the rafters.

I remove my skid plate (for oil changes) using a 10mm box wrench. Trying to use a ratchet extension is challenging with the Air Dam on.

Everyone is entitled to an opinion. Or how do you know “this and only this,is the reason for it s existence “?

Well, I don’t have any data to contradict what you are saying and maybe you are right. Again, just saying it's a little hard to believe that this plastic piece would have that much of an impact on one's gas mileage in these box shaped trucks we all drive.

PS: I just happen to have a few bottles of NOS Slick 50 that I'm going to post for sale on Ebay. I'm thinking $1000 bucks a bottle.

I drive 120 miles per day.
    100% stock Trd Sport 4x4.
It had “0” difference on my stock sport. Luckily I was able to trade it for a case of beer and it’s not in a land fill!

I agree, unless you have a lift to change your oil, imo, its nearly impossible to remove, and replace that skid plate with the spoiler in the way. I looked at that skid plate 2 years ago when removing the spoiler to rust proof the trucks front chassis section. I mumbled to myself what a stupid arrangement.

I drive 20.1 miles to work daily, mileage never varies. My gas mileage does vary by 1-2 mpg, most of the loss comes from how I drive it. I have a manual, sometimes I drive like grandpa, sometimes like a NASCAR driver. When we add/spend money on mileage improvements we tend to drive grandpa, justifying the add/spend. JMHO

I have a stock 4door OR. I did my own test, 5000 miles before and then added a spoiler and now have 8000 with the spoiler. I drive essentially the same places. I save about 1 gallon of gas every fill up. Not a lot, but it does work. Toyota would not put them on their trucks if they didn't help (OR excluded). Sure, it doesn't look great, but it works. At the end of the year my wife and I get a nice dinner and movie from the savings:) I also make Al Gore happy that I am doing my part:)

That’s great, in your case there was no effect. I would have kept it off too.

When i had it off for awhile on my sr5, i couldn't get any better than 22 mpg. When i installed back on a few weeks later i was back up to a steady 23.1 mpg. Truck even has 265/70 16 goodyear adventure tires.

Similar case here, it’s back on on mine. What I’m saying is that if I had seen no change I would have kept it off.

To definitively determine that a chin spoiler was the reason for an increase as small as 2 MPG, you would have to eliminate so many other factors. (e.g. Wind, road conditions, tire conditions and pressure, speed of vehicle, and many more.)

So you do not like the spoiler but you put it on for a 1 MPG increase? Even with today's gas prices we're talking about pennies here.

I have one in Eastern PA if you want it. Right now it's home to a family of spiders in the corner of my garage. In return, I would like half of the 27 cents you are going to save a day in gas.

27 cents a day. Multiple that by 7 days a week, which equals $1.89 per week. $1.89 multiple by 4 weeks in a month, which equals $7.56 a month. $7.56 multiple by 12 months a year, thus equals $90.72 per year.

Roughly $90.72 saving per year. So maybe a full tank and extra quarter after? Personally, I'll take that in savings.

You wanting half is $45.36. That's still savings!

I hope math is right. I've had a super long day of work... :goingcrazy:

It’s like trining to convince a toddler. Not because it does work for you or you don’t like it doesn’t mean it’s stupid. His math may work out differently than yours. I know you didn’t call anyone stupid but geez.

I'd be surprised if it actually brought up 2 mpg... Aerodynamically speaking it seems like a very small addition to help with drag. Interesting idea though
