If you're dead set on doing this and can figure out how to wire them to work I have my 2021 take off's with drl available that were removed with ~700 miles on the truck. One I tried opening to retrofit before I said fuck it and just sealed it up with silicone but there's no visible damage from outside the vehicle.

With your conditions the dude is basically getting halogens for free, selling the LEDs for full price and the halogen guy is buying used LEDs for the price of new. Doesn't seem fair.

Hahaha I have 50 percent windshield tint on my 18 pro with the stock 18 pro headlights. They have more output and brightness then I ever needed. I don’t understand the led obsession. How much light do people need?

1K plus shipping plus giving up the halogens for a trade the OP initiated? You're up to around 1300 of value by that point and I can get brand new LEDs for $1340 shipped.

At least if I buy new ones I can keep my old ones as spares in case I traded the truck and wanted to revert to stock or have spares.

The one I currently have now is a standard SR5 housing. Its neither a dedicated bulb (it works as blinker too) and it doesn't double up as a low or high beam.

Correct, I was not referring to SR5's. I was referring to the Pros you asked about, and relating them to other vehicles that have standard halogen DRLs that you showed interest in.

I figured your amber turn signal DRL on the SR5 was not relevant.

They whole MV argument is moot if the downgrade is not possible. I'm not going to go create custom harnesses myself.

Okay... Where are you getting new leds for 1.34 shipped then?
That’s what I’d list them at and I’m confident they’d be gone in a week

What I'm looking for is the standard SR5 housings because I like the amber DRLs in them. But I wish they had one that has a black housing. I don't want any LED strip things. I want my SR5 housing but in black and not chrome. I swear I've seen them somewhere but I'm unsure if the LED "L" was just turned off or if it didn't actually have it.

As the OP said this is a moot discussion however Sparks Parts....nobody is buying used ones for the price of new with a factory warranty.

Paying a grand plus footing the shipping plus giving up the factory housings all as part of the deal puts you close to the value of what you could have just paid for a brand new set with a warranty. It doesn't make sense. Anyways, sounds like none of it matters.

And the reason I mentioned them as PROs was because I thought pre 2020 pros had the blacked out halogen lights but it seems those are mandatory with the led "L" strip?

Could you not just buy the TRD Pro housings and leave the DRL portion unplugged? I'm not sure the L's would be that visible if off. From the factory they only made the black housing in the TRD Pro format with the L. So I'm guessing you saw something aftermarket or they had the DRL unplugged. The TRD pro uses the L as a parking lamp at reduced brightness at night time so from the factory they would not have done what you are wanting, but I'm pretty sure you could simply install the housings and leave the L disconnected, especially since your truck will not have the connector for the L DRL anyways.

They did, and they are. find pics of a TRD pro not running and you'd get an idea if the unplugged LED strip is a manageable look for you or not.

Junkyard OEM halogen connector cutoffs (5 each side) and an MX-150 male pigtail and some butt connectors would get it done. It would be an ugly duck but that is within your powers.

I am advising you in the strongest terms possible to just ignore the aesthetics. Honestly, they looked cheezeball to me at first too but it's grown on me.

Being able to see at night is very useful for safety reasons. More seeing is better than less seeing. At least I don't know anyone who willingly prefers partial blindness to 20/20 vision.

Also, I'm no halogen hater, of my 4 vehicles, 3 run halogen bulbs. And for 9011 HIR the halogen bulbs can be awesome. The Tacoma projectors, simply stated, suck.

No, I draw the same line with helping people with Alpharex, airbag cutoff switches, etc.

I do not wish to aid anyone else's bad decisions, I make enough of those on my own and carry that guilt, don't need any extra :)

I can understand basic safety provisions like the airbag, but if Toyota is making a model with Halogen headlights its already been deemed to be perfectly safe and acceptable. I really don't understand the position that this is some sort of drastic move. Sure, maybe it would be like someone wanting to go from 4WD to 2WD, but there's no safety issues whatsoever. Additionally, it can be undone at any point if its a simple wiring harness. I respect your opinion, but I fail to see the logical connections.
